COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s brewed with roasted wheat in addition to malted and torrefied wheats and also some Belgian Dark Candi Syrup giving it hints of biscuit and figs as well as liquorice in the finish.

Cask. Small brown head atop cola-dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, spicy/wheat, brown sugar, light caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, molasses/brown sugar, spicy almost Belgian yeasty. Soft medium body.

5/27/09 notes: on tap at Bertha’s Mussels. Pours dark brown with little head. Aroma is of toasted brown sugar and sugary chocolate. Palate is disappointingly thin . . . then again I am not sure what style this beer is. Flavors lean watery, with some sweet malt and light roastiness. OK at best.

A reddish dark amber ale with a thick off white head. A pleasant butterscotch aroma, no bananas though, with notes of solvent. In mouth, an interesting mix of chocolate and light butterscotch. Medium bodied. Not bad. On tap at Wharf Rat on Pratt, Dec. 28 2008.

On tap @ Wharf Rat. Pours a perfectly clear copper body with a small fizzy off-white head that fell to a thin ring. Minimal visible carbonation. The nose is spicy with lots of wheat and a bit of light roast. Some clove and cinnamon maybe? Pretty hearty flavor, some nice roast-wheat interaction. Finishes with some yeast derived spiciness and a bit of clove and allspice. It almost has a bit of a Christmasy feel to it. Medium bodied with a bit of wheat clinginess. This could really benefit from ditching the filtration. This was decent, but could really be pretty great if they wouldn’t have filtered it so much.
