3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 12HundredBaud (262) - Sausalito, California, USA - OCT 23, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2011 33cl. bottle from a butcher at Ax-les-Thermes. It pours a hazy deep amber liquid with lots of medium-large yeast spots (a little too much) and a medium-high lasting light-beige head that leaves some lacing. The aroma is quite hoppy, with herbs, resin, some orange, caramel, ripe dark fruits, yeast and a little licorice touch. It tastes likewise, with some additional cereal touches, quite nice, being medium sweet, medium bitter and low sour. In the mouth it feels a little lively carbonated (ok), oily, with a medium body and a dry bitter-sweet finish, with an aftertaste of resiny and herbal hops, cereal, a little fruit and caramel. Presentation is quite nice (it lacks a customised crown cap, though) for a quite nice toasty beer.
0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 DeanF (1537) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - OCT 30, 2010
330ml bottle found at a fromagerie in Paris. Okay head, weird brown-orange swampwater body. Aroma of brake fluid, a compost heap, and smelly socks. The taste is mostly brake fluid, or perhaps a spiced-up gueuze if you will. Then, while you’re humming and hawwing over what brand of brake fluid it might taste like, you can’t help but notice the watery palate. I want to support the French microbrews, I really do, but putting stuff like this on the market doesn’t help their cause.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - JAN 20, 2008
Bottle at Le Sous Bock, Paris Hazy amber color, with disgusting floating particles, too many. The aroma shows a light sourness. The flavor is simple, just some residual sweetness, and even if not too disgusting, it’s clearly spoiled by an infection, as I suspected from the aroma. If not infected, I guess it may be a simple sweetish Ale with a light fruity touch, and deserve a rating of 28/29.

33 cl bottle at Le Sous Bock in Paris. Clear dark gold color without any head. Lots of fruit in the nose, most notably apple and cherry. Flavor elements were the same with the addition of a light, almost oaky note.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 screwball (1098) - Motala, SWEDEN - MAY 7, 2007
I had this in Paris. It was recomended by the waiter as a good French brew. But to my disappointment this was a real poor one. The palate and appearance was bad. Orange and thin looking. Lots of flaces of yeast. I often like that but not on this on. Flavor little fruity and yeasty. Aroma had some sweet marmalade to it.
