Bottle:   Dark brown, nearly black, burnt brown sugar highlights, moderate to large foamy beige head, nice lacing.   Bright nose of spruce, ginger, nutmeg, and associated mountain shrubbiness.   Has a strong herbal presense, shrubs, low lying fauna, and autumn like spices.   This one is much better than I anticipated.   This one is a wonder of spices, a little earthy, mountain brush like, yet has a sweet spicy aspect.   Nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon seem to dominate from start to finish.   Perhaps a sliver of clove too.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Not all that bubbley, but feels a little chewy.   This one is very unique.   I cannot think of anything like this one.   This really reminds me of the cross between autumn into winter in such a wonderful way.   Spicy, clean, with the eagerness for more after each sip.   A superb spiced ale, one that is very well balanced, and one that others can learn a lot from.   Totally taken back by this one.   Its almost too vibrant in its spiciness.   This would be a great Thanksgiving beer and/or one to enjoy on Christmas as it share aspects of both holidays, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and a strong spruce/pine like Christmas tree.   Very flavorful, one I wont forget any time soon.   Nice work Olvalde!   Those with taste out in Seattle will really enjoy this.   Thanks to Skyview for this great treat!   Bright, powerful, and worthy of more praise.   Simply delicious!

Bottle sampled at RBSG. From notes. Spruce and christmas baking spices. Its like someone dumped wassail on a chrismas wreath. Delicious.

I brought this to Summer Gather, 2013. The spruce is prominent in the aroma. Cinnamon and clove as well. on the sweet side with molasses. full palate. Brown color and low carbonation. Great beer. 2013 vintage.

Bomber at RBSG. Christmas in a bottle. Spruce and spice. Smells more bold than it tastes. Very cool brew!

Thanks to Bob for the 750mL bottle! Poured medium-deep brown with a short, dense, well-retained dark beige head. The aroma picked up a hefty dose of spruce plus nutmeg and ginger over chocolate and nutty malts.. warm, spicy, and interesting, with extra emphasis on the spruce. The flavor found gingerbread and chocolatey malts at the core, with tart spruce laced throughout.. almost metallic at times, but it never quite got there.. more ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon around.. finished with spices, tart spruce, and belly warmth. Medium-plus bodied and tangy on the palate with good balance.. I could’ve used more of the base beer and a touch less spruce, but it was mighty tasting and I’d gladly drink it again.

Interesting. Dark pour from a swing-top 750 with just a little tan head - no lacing. Nose has some nice earthiness to it and smells of ginger with a twinge of pine? Low carbonation, sweet malt - almost chocolate - lots of interesting spices zipping around. Gingerbread-ish, maybe just a bit too sweet?

Bottle shared with DalzAle. Pours dark brown with spice on the nose that mixes well with the malts. Flavor is Christmas spices, chewy dark malts and some chocolate. Solid beer, could never drink an entire bottle.

Bottle shared by khoffman43 (and thanks to CLevar and MatSciGuy for bottling!) Dark brown pour minimal lacing and an aroma of gingerbread and dark malt. Flavor is really mellow meld of gingerbread, dark chocolate and spruce. Tasted a lot better than it smelled. Worth buying, but make sure you share it with someone as it is a bit rich.
