3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 GT2 (5657) - Riverslime, California, USA - MAR 3, 2013
750mL thanks to nmann08. Pours a low haze golden. No real head formation. Nose is mildly funky, mild white vinegar, thick honey, fresh rhubarb/strawberry. As it warms, heavy acetic acid takes over. Taste is thicker honey, some odd white vinegar, sharply spicy and sour acetic acid/vinegar. Odd combination: vinegar, honey, rhubarb.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Skyview (5023) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 8, 2011
Sampled from 22-oz bomber during Heritage Liquor’s Beer Geek Christmas 2011 in Maplewood, MN. Pours a hazy light golden amber colored brew with a fizzy and fluffy white head with some excellent retention and leaves behind thick lacing. Aroma of honey, Belgian yeast, some fruity esters, candi sugar, a hint of garden fresh rhubarb, and slight trace of clove. Taste is medium to full bodied, some sweet character with a Belgian dubbel character, candi sugar and more subtle rhubarb flavor with with a hint of light banana, yeast and a touch of clove. Carbonation is quite soft, well balanced. Finish is semi sweet with a mild rhubarb aftertaste followed by some light honey and Belgian yeast. I have tried over a dozen craft beers with rhubarb treatments that are either dry or too weedy. This is the first rhubarb infused Belgian ale that does not need any cherry to smoothen out the flavor. Outstanding! Would love to see this one become available on a regular basis.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, hazy orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, tart fruits, rhubarb, some apricot, peach, pear, some earthy tones. Taste is slight tart, rhubarb/celery notes, nice sour apricot and peach, nice lemon, finishing sweet, dry, slightly funky and tart. Nice!
