Cloudy dark brown colour with a tan head. Yeasty and malty aroma. Moderate sweet and some roasted malt in the flavour. Strange watery texture on this one. A bit suprisingly really, because of the thick cloudy body.
[Bottle from Varnaveien mineralvann in Moss, Norway]

Bottle from Fenaknoken, then stored in my closet for half a year, then enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown, nice tanned head that sadly falls too fast down. Smells of yeast, malts, some dark fruits and chocolate. Taste is sharp malty, medium sweetness, bitter chocolate and alcohol. Watery feel, medium bodied. Some bitter finish, i fin both some hops and some malt bitterness there

Bottle (from the november 2005 RB-tasting at Dixens place - notes have been damaged by flooding of my basement, but this was such an insane tasting for me as I was new to such massive tastings, so I gave up on the detailed notes quite early). Nothing readable from the notes...

Bottle, stumbled upon at a semi-local grocery store. Intriguing, since it’s brewed with the traditional Norwegian method of using juniper (both branches and berries, I guess). It pours a quite dark brew, which held up against light reveals itself as dark red, or crimson. Practically no head. The aroma is malty, with dark red berries and some caramel. Fruity flavor, with licorice, and general berries. The first sip reminds me of the kind of concentrated juice ("saft") my grandmother used to make from red- and blackcurrant berries. The flavor then continues into licorice and dark malt territory. The aftertaste lastes for a long time, ending up in a slightly bitter, kinda (pine?) tree sap kind of flavor. A small hint of mint in there too! Hard to describe with words, but very pleasant! Very slight sweetness, but with a dry finish. Great balance. Mouthfeel is closer to medium than light, with low carbonation, making it smooth and very drinkable. A tiny bit too watery. A tiny bit more body might have made this even better. Overall I think it’s pretty darn good!

ClubGonzo (3869) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 19, 2011
Bottle from Vaaland Spesialbutikken. Pours a deep brown body with a tiny off-white head. Aroma is raisins, roasted malts, hints of burnt sugar and baker’s yeast. Taste is roasty caramel tones with hints of burnt sugar and coffee. A pleasant, but not too exciting dark ale from this tiny Norwegian farmstead brewery.

Botle. Aroma of malt and a bit of liquorice. Clear dark brown colour with beige head. Malt flavour with nuts, a bit of chocolate and liquorice and slight hops in the finish.
