O’Malley’s IPA is another beer that started out as a Brew Labs 22oz. This IPA is built for wider appeal than some of its cousins. With 7.5% abv and 89 IBU it still has all that you expect from an IPA, but with a smoother finish than one might expect.

(22oz bomber thanks to Mora2000) clear amber with lasting white head and great lacing. Nose of candi sugar, citrus hops, oranges, and yeast. Taste of bitter orange peel, bread, brown sugar, unique hoppy beer. Creamy finish that is bready.

Bottle. Poured with a towering inferno of rocky foam protecting the murky burnt-orange brew beneath. The aroma is wickedly woodsy, rife with pine resin. Chewy with Christmas-tree-thick earthiness, I might be gnawing on a spruce trunk. (#3960, 8/6/2010)

Bottle. Weston has above average beers but nothing to blow you away. That’s why I was a little afraid to get this one. But I love IPA’s so I gave it a try, and I’m glad I did. Poured a hazy orange color with a nice two finger white head. Aroma was grass, citrus and pine. Flavor was lemony, resin, and some citrus. Aftertaste was bitter. Hops and more hops. Medium body. A great beer from what I think is an average brewery. But I’d get this one again.

(bottle) orange amber with generous off white head. Moderate pine/grass/citrus aroma. Flavor is pine/floral hops with decent malt backbone- well balanced overall. Quite a nice IPA.

Decent IPA. Creamy-thick texture. Hazy orange with a tightly packed head with good retention. Doughy-sweet nose. Malt flavors are cookie-like and cakey. 89 quoted IBUs seem muted and muffled behind the big malts. Some earthy flowers come through, though. An herbal bitterness lingers nicely.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear golden orange with a nice white head. Aroma is grains and malts with some citrus. Taste is semi-sweet with malts and grains not much bitterness. Pretty good.

12oz bottle, from Lukas in Missouri. Clear amber color. Thin off-white kind of bubbly head, dots of lace. Looks good. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, crisp lighter carbonation. Light slick. Caramel malt, light spicy. Good resiny hop. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Really smooth and easy drinking. Solid balanced IPA. Underrated. Friends I shared it with like it.

Pours a cloudy apricot to honey color. Aroma of grass, pine, lavender and lemon. Taste is bitter. Flavor is grass, resin and floral hops with a sweet malt balance. I’ve tasted beers from Weston Brewing before and have not been impressed. I really believe they put some thought into this one. A step in the right direction. I would very much like to try this at the brewery. I have heard the beer is better at the brewery as opposed to bottled. Well done. I would like to see more like this.
