Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear, russet-gold with a creamy white head. Lots of tangy, stewed fruits in the aroma, berries, bread as well. Medium sweet flavor with prominent bready malts, light alcohol, toffee. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with faint leaves, more bready malts and mild alcohol, slight astringency, caramel, ripe apples. Nice one.

On tap at Olde Mecklenburg. Pours an amber brown color with white head. Caramel, sweet, malty flavors. I liked better than the Yule Bock.

On tap @ OMB. Pours a deep reddish appearance with a big khaki head. Mild toffee and caramel. A bit of nuts. Some herbal, soapy notes. Soft body. A bit metallic. Moderately to highly sweet. Light to moderate bitterness. My last favorite here.

aroma is sweet, appearance is copper/gold and not too opaque. taste was well balanced, but palate fell flat. just not awesome I feel like this with most OMB beers, they can hit the style pretty much spot on, but beyond brewing to style there is something missing. no pizzazz. still a solid beer, I enjoy trying new things, but not exactly worth seeking out.

From the bottle came a copper colored brew with a generous white head. MY nose detected floral maltiness, with a hint of cider. It felt moderately light in the mouth and tasted malty sweet with a light hop finish.

Bottle. Copper with frothy cream head. Smells like caramel and toast, lemon, nickel, and a hint of spice maybe some cooked veg (but that could just be my kitchen). Tastes immediately sweet followed by the light sour note and then a bit of astringency then ending simultaneously dry with a sweet overlay. Slightly hard mouthfeel.

Pint at Macís Speed Shop BBQ. Pours a clear copper with no head. The aroma is what Iíd expect from a bock: vegetal and papery but thankfully not overpowering. The flavor is a little more bold with notes of eggplant, toffee, butter and wood. Itís a pretty straight up bock and reminds me why I donít much like the style. This one is okay though, itís not as intensely buttery or vegetal as some others Iíve tried. Upon reviewing the information on OMBís website I learned this is intended to be a doppelbock. The alcohol and full-body are not apparent.
