3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at CLT brewpub location. Clear golden with a lasting film of cream and lively carbonation. Nose is earthy beeswax, toasted grain and a touch of dry grass. Taste is the same. Medium body has medium high carbonation and finishes dry.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Growlers Pour House in Charlotte.
Pours is clear golden with an above average white head that leaves some sticky lacing on the sides of the glass.
Looks and tastes much like a regular, but well-crafted, lager, with some spicy hops: a description of a typical maibock. The hops are less obvious in the nose than on the tongue. Still, the taste is mainly bready. The aroma is quite light, reminiscent of white bread with light citrus notes.
M: Light body; medium carbonation.
O: True to style if a shade light on the hops; well-crafted, clean and refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’m starting to think that many of these OMB brews need to be enjoyed FRESH. As I read through the few reviews of this beer - it is getting slammed, unjustly so in my opinion. The beer pours a deep golden color and completely transparent. Aroma is of light hay and a touch of bubblegum sweetness, unfortunately this blends into a urine-like hop aroma. The beer really starts to shine upon the first sip, crisp and sharp at first yet this yields to a soft and sweet malt-forward flavor, doughy with a slight buttery note. Finishes somewhat skunky as the hops try to clean things up.
All in all not horrible and interesting for sure - alcohol and malt forward, I can see hopheads rating this lower but I can appreciate this relatively hard to pull of style. Admirable attempt.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the Flying Saucer, Charlotte. Vibrant pale gold pour, looks like a clean, healthy lager in every sense. Light fruits in the nose along with bready malts and a sprinkling of hops. Mouthfeel a bit odd, slightly too slick one minute, seemingly over-fizzed the next. Taste less inviting than the nose, with a bit too much sweetness that’s not balanced out with bitters.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap flight in a plastic cup during a flight delay at Charlotte Douglas airport. Yes, it’s one of those days...
...Golden color, with a dense white head that clings to,the glass, er plastic, really well. Buttered English muffin aroma. Taste is buttery and hoppy with a crisp almost vinous character. None of the flavors are bad, I’m just not sure that they’re assembled together very well. I kind of like it in the way you appreciate a child’s diligent attempts at artwork. It grows on you.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2012 This was one of two beers tasted at this unique brewery. The brewamster has German beer experience and the beers all have a german style. The bock poured a straw color with a nice head formation and retention. A sweet aroma is noticed on the nose and there was no bitterness’. The medium body bock had average carbonation. Smooth finish with no aftertatse.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet caramel aromas. Dry with sweet yeasty caramel upfront and a lasting yeasty finish.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber from Ross. Nose is timothy hay, hints of sweetness and a tiny bit of bubblegum. Urine yellow with a medium yellow tinged head. Flavor is lightly sweet and peppery with those hay flavors and a hint of background bitterness. Better than a pale lager but nothing close to a big brassy (blonde) bock.

This smells pretty bad. Malty but extremely buttery with some acetyl notes as well. A bit cloudy orange-yellow. Other than looking okay this is terrible. Taste is full of butter and acetyl flavors. The smoothness is okay, but the flavor is just ruined. I hope that the sample they sent to the brewpub at the airport is just a bad one, because otherwise this needs to be abandoned.
