Draft. Backlog from Nov 2012. Light amber in the glass with an off-white head. Toasted malt aroma and flavor with a backing of spice. Light to medium body and a toasted malt aftertaste.

Pint at CLT airport. Clear topaz with a small ring of bubbles. Nose is at first sour, then lightly toasted grain and caramel. Taste is sweet toasted grain and just a touch of dry grass and sour apple. Light body is well balanced and has light carbonation.

A good Octoberfest, but average by most standards. Very sessionable. A good beer to share with friends.

Tap at tgi Friday’s. Pretty run of the mill Oktoberfest. Probably the best choice at Friday’s. Good to support local brew.

Draught at the airport. Pours a lighter amber color with a moderate white head. Some grains and maltiness to the nose of this, with both some of the malty bitterness and a hint of sweetness to the taste.

Had this beer at the brewery taproom on 9/23/10. Reviewed from notes. Poured into a giant mug. Came out a very clear copper/amber color with a large 3-finger creamy off-white head. Light lace stuck behind. Nose of toffee, caramel, light hops. Pretty average.
What it lacked in the nose, it made up for in flavor! Semi-sweet candied malts. Notes of toffee, bread, and lightly oily hops on the finish. Excellent aftertaste. Good carbonation level. Easily drinkable. Had I not had to drive home, I would have had another mug, as the first mug was gone before I knew it. Recommend.

Bottle. Dark golden with ample foamy head. Smells toasty and lightly sour. Very malty but not overly cloying. Malt flavor hangs on.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber orange with a thick white head. Aroma of bready malts and sweet malts. Flavor is mostly bready malts, some sweet fruits, and a little hop bitterness. Overall a pretty good Oktoberfest.

On tap at Maxwell’s Tavern. Pours out a dark orange color with a white head on it. Smell is malty and rich with a little bit of hop presence. Taste sweet and fairly smooth. Easy to drink and kind of sweet. Went well with the burger, but I dont think I could drink more than one of these.
