Light aroma: caramel/sweet, herbal hops. Sweetish flavor; a tiny bit of grainy/bread flavor. General fruity hop flavor.Subtle wierd green apple-ish flavor in aftertaste. I think this is the first gluten-free "beer" than can pass for a beer.

Aroma of caramel and grain. Transparent amber color. Poured with almost no head. Lively carbonated mouthfeel. Caramel malt slightly more powerful than the dry hoppy bitterness. The bitterness leaves your mouth slightly puckering and seems dry in the finish. Hop flavor Is citrusy and grapefruity. Body is medium low and last pretty much throughout. Very crisp and refreshing moderately bitter amber pale ale which I would not suspect is gluten free. I will recommend to all gluten free drinkers.

14th May 2015: 12oz bottle into a La Chouffe badged stemmed tulip. Hazy amber pour, full, deep, white blanket of foam for a head. Hop lead in both the aroma and taste, bitter, yet balanced with a malt base which steadies the brew nicely. Decent stuff, gluten-free or not this is a very drinkable beer.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours copper with a light beige head. Aroma seems lightly floral with a touch of citrus. Getting something that’s more hint of cola than malt. About medium body. Flavor is nicely hoppy. Finishes pretty dry and nicely bitter. As in most gluten frees there is something missing that’s needed to carry the hop. That said, this may be the best American gluten free I’ve ever had. It doesn’t stand near Greens Endeavor. The problem with gluten free is that light flavor won’t cut it. Wonder how a gluten free IS would turn out? EDIT: Guess it does stand near Endeavor. Gave them the same ratings. Still think the more flavor the better tasting the gluten free.

Poured by the Widmer founder himself...and you could tell just how proud he was of this. Interesting labeling problems. Now, as for the beer, if you’ve had sorghum beers before, you know how much of an accomplishment it is to have something that is in the ballpark of a good APA, yet not have any gluten. A bit on the light side of the hopping spectrum, but still colorful. (bottle at the Ale Jail backyard beer festival, 2012)

Nice light caramel coloured body with an orange glow and a thin, one centimetre tall light tan head. Aroma of light hops with some citrus and herbal notes very noticeable with a little malt smell and a touch of alcohol and cardboard. Light-bodied; Sharp herbal and lightly earthy hop notes show up front with a good malt backbone (somehow without glutens) behind and a bitterness showing well from the hops. Aftertaste is nice with the bitterness very noticeable, a touch of alcohol, but the good news is that you don’t really miss the malt or glutens. Overall, a rather surprisingly good and true-to-style beer considering what it could be without the full malt notes. If you have celiac disease, this one is definitely one worth trying and enjoying all the time - otherwise, it’s not a bad choice to sample if you like APAs. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 24-October-2012 for US$1.79 sampled at home in Washington on 02-November-2012.
