COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The week of July 18th will bring a specialty draft-only offering called Belgian Independence Day Saison. The beer is a celebration of Belgium’s big day, July 21st. Marketing Chief, Larry Bennett, said that this will differ from the brewery’s year-round Saison, Hennepin, in that it will bring a more prominent spiciness due to the addition of white pepper.

On tap @ blue monk. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a thin white head. Nose is green apple, herbal yeastiness, lemon, plasticy orange, peppery cream. Flavor is Earthy yeast, ommegang spiciness, very dry with wisps of rosemary and thyme. It’s interesting but a bit strange. Amazingly light body - Absolute perfection on that front. Lingering herbal & bitter finish.

On tap. Pours with a hazy golden body and a large, fluffy white head with good retention and lacing. Very spicy aroma, coriander, phenol, light tobacco, lemon, cumin and rubber cement. Flavors are a bit smoother, still a lot of phenols, lemon zest, malty/grainy, pepper, spices. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bubbles.

On tap at TJs. Orangish/gold pour with frothy head. Aroma of pepper, rye, citrus, pepper, floral, did I mention pepper. Quite a bit bit spicier than most saisons.

On tap at the brewery’s new eatery. Pours a deep golden color with small dissipating head. Smells delicious of spices and summer goodness. taste is crisp and refreshing. You get plenty of pepper and other spices, some citrus, and yeast, and earth, hay, and light floral notes. great saison for a summer day.

On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a golden yellow amber with a very faint touch of haze and a large yellowed white head. Big and musky, light lemon notes, clean citrus. Medium bodied, light banana right up front, wheat and a touch of clove spiciness. Sweet lemony notes throughout, clean and simple. Long musk with a touch of pithy lemon bitterness to balance it all out. Really well done and a great hot summer day beer.

Tap poured into the most adorable tulip glass. I’ll probably steal it, to be honest. That’s how cute it is. It says belgian independence day with the letters in belgian alternating from black, yellow, and red. It’s slightly thin in the waist with some great birthing hips too. The foot isn’t too big either. Just lovely. The beer was good too.

Draft at Hop Leaf. Pours a very attractive and lightly hazed yellowy gold with a sticky lacing head. Nose is really nice. Citrusy esters and spicy white pepper phenols. Great yeast character in this one. Some continental hops as well. Really nice. Some faint clove that works, too. On taste, crisp and light bitterness, some dry phenols that work well here. Nice pils malt character as well. Pretty superb saison and I hope it sticks around.

On tap at the ACBF. Clear yellow pour with white head that lasts and leaves a nice lace. Spicy, peppery, herbal, earthy, funky nose. Light fruit on the palate with spice, pepper and a little funk.
