Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

750ml bottle. Pours a mostly clear, deep reddish mahogany body with a two-finger width, fizzy, tan head that dissipated quickly leaving some nice lacing that stuck around. Very nice vinous aroma. Berry honey, raisin, a light toffee bread malt, and some softly spiced yeast. The flavor is more malt based than the aroma, but still maintains a bit of a vinous quality. Starts with some toasted caramels and a bit of bubbly berry taste. Lots of raisins and some more toasty caramels come in during the middle while still maintaining a soft, bubbly carbonation. Some candy licorice, slightly tart dark fruits, yeast, and banana bread come in during the finish where it dries at a nice pace. Sweet aftertaste that lingers with a touch of chocolate, raisin, toasty caramel, vinous fruits, and a light spicing. Palate is full and creamy with a nice, soft carbonation throughout. Overall, a pretty solid dubbel. Just a tad too sweet, but enjoyable and even more satisfying at the backend of the 750ml bottle.

Very tasty! I picked this up with BeerBaron617 at Trader Joes the other night. Did a beer review of it today, and we both decided that it was great. Anyhoo... It poured a hazy brown color with a toffee colored head. There was certainly some sediment and bubbly action going on in my glass. The aroma is sweet, a bit fruity, bread, and maybe apples. Tasted like melon and bananas. I really like this a lot! I will be getting this again!

Bottle from three sons. Ireally liked this double. A belgian but has a lot of farmhouse character, so I think it does deserve a good rating, though it may not be purely in the style.

I was surprised to see the ratings on this beer. Although it is a good beer, I certainly don’t think it is a 3.83. I mean the fourth highest rated Abbey Dubbel? A rich, sweet, malty beer with fruit and some spice this beer looks the part, dark amber with a nice, creamy tan head. Sometimes I rate a little harshly on Belgian styles, but I see most don’t with this beer.

Great sweet malty flavor that is not overassuming. This goes down smoothly and lets you enjoy other things rather than making you pay too much attention to your beer. Plus, it’s probably the biggest head I have ever seen. Bottle at Total Wine, Ft. Lauderdale.

Pours a deep reddish brown with a medium tight tan head. Aroma is nice enough with some roasty malt and some cherry with a nice little mild nuttiness. The flavor is mildly sweet with a high hoppiness for the style but the earthy hops seem to fit in just fine. There is a good fruity cherry and apple thing going on with a mild rum note thrown in there.
