Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Poured a reddish light brown color with an off white head. Aroma was of sweet candy sugar and some spices. Flavor was really sweet and spicey, very complex for a belgian

Sweetness in the aroma, mild molasses and heavy caramel aroma. Huge tan head tops this reddish brown ale. Nutty caramel flavors mingle with dates, black currants, and dark fruits with a spicy finish. Complex malt flavor bittered just enough for balance. Clean sweet finish and full mouth feel. Wonderful beer, a flavor explosion, addictive, nothing bad to say here!

More like a fine wine than a great beer (though equally a great beer) the novelty of my first corked beer is what turned me on and I was impressed. Pours a dark purple/brown with a great fluffy head. Aromas of wine with that deep alcohol taste that all beer should have. Complex flavor that was hard to place but vinous, sweet with a hint of dark chocolate, and velvety on the finish. Good Americanized Belgian.

Last had at Ommefest. Just as I remember it being such a great all around beer, great color and aroma. Plenty of spices and slightly sweeter aromas with nice dry finsh, so good.

Pours opaque golden brown with medium white head. Bannana and carmel yeasty aroma. Dry yeast, tobacco, caramel. Not as much complexity as I have expected.

This beer is so good especially when considering the price...it pours a very attractive red copper color, full tan head with good retention, complicated aroma, a layered and complex taste: fruits, raison, hints of chocolate, spice, smoke; a clean neat finish - if it was slightly smoother with a stronger finish it would have been a perfect score for me

Gorgeous deep, almost opaque, red mahogany color, tan light effervescent head with orange highlights, thin, tiny bubbles, good retention and lacing... aromas of sweet, candied fruits, vinous wine grapes, dark raisins, yeast esters and fresh bread. So smooth! Complex flavors of toffee, floral hops, light and dark fruits, chocolate covered raisins and a long finish that ends on a caramel note - truly a layered beer, as iit warms the ambiance changes and the beer reimagines itself, iImpressive example of the Belgian style being made by an American company and a very satisfying experience.

Dark body with a moderate diminishing head. Strong, attractive aroma with a fruity sweetness and a hint of malt. Smells like candy almost. The nose is deceptively thin with a lot of carbonation, but the flavor comes out after that. Lots of malt on the flavor, although its not my favorite malt profile. There are just enough notes of various fruits to make this a rather complex brew; you get a different flavor on each swig. This is a great beer, although I think they could tone the carbonation down a bit so that the nose is not dominated so much by fizz. Otherwise, this is a near perfect beer.
