UPDATED: JAN 19, 2010 750ml bottle from Liquor Barn in SF, NM. A VERY powerful taste and smell from this one. Musty beyond anything I’ve tried before. Incredible amounts of lacing. Creates too thick of a head too quickly during the pour. Color is a dark brown. Not my usual style, but I could definitely see how others would like it.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jbender (23) - Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 20, 2009
From 750 mL bottle. Pours out with a hazy brown appearance with a 2 finger white head that holds very well. Caramel dominates the aroma, with fruity smells from the belgian teast also coming through. This fruitiness comes out more in the flavor, with the high ABV hidden extremely well (feels more like a 6%). Almost over carbonated...get a slight fizzy feeling on the tongue. Overall a very good ale.

pours out a ruby oarnge with a thick off white head with really strong fruit aromas popping up as soon as it poured. nice lacing around the inside of the glass. it has a deep maroon burgundy body to it with a good amount of bubbles rising up from the center of the glass. i can smell apples, grapes, honey, caramel malts and a tiny hint of alcohol. the taste is somewhat bitter with a huge malty character to it that finishes dry and sweet, kind of cool. there is a god amount of carbonation and i can also pick up the toffee and chocolate on the tip of my tongue. aftertaste is mild and doesnt linger, very good palabilty.

Hazy reddish-brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma hints at berries, raisins and roasted malt. Flavor is quite sweet with raisins, strong alcohol presence and other fruits. Finishes soft and smooth, an above average dubbel.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JensenTaster (1717) - DENMARK - OCT 14, 2009
(on bottle) Dark, claer red, beige head. Graet aroma, mix of vintage port and marzipan. Perky and then the wrath of a very hefty 8,5% hits in. Odd, for such a low percentage. Haevy malts and figs takes it home for a long warm finish.
