Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Medium brown color, medium head. Rich smooth malts almost fruity. Nice hop signature. Finish is very clean, good mouth feel. Aftertaste is malty. The maltyness shines through on the finish. Smooth taste despite 8.5 % alcohol.

12. oz bottle. Dark brown with ruby tinges around the edges. Good size tan head. Slightly vinuous alcoholic notes in the aroma overlay the malt. First impression was of sweet malty molasses which fades into the background somewhat as the full boidies alcohol asserts itself. Interesting finish and aftertaste with some lingering dark fruits. Palate is quite nice. Good beer well deserving of the re-rate.

Bottle. Labeled as “Abbey Ale”. Large light brown creamy head that mostly lasted. Hazy amber – brown color. Good display of lacework. Thick and complex aroma of yeast, fruit, toffee, toasted malt, nutty, dried fruit, spice. Full bodied with an average carbonation and thick light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavor with hint of acidic and bitterness. Sweet toffee lingering finish. Quit nice.

This bottled brew poured a very large sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting brown colored bubbles thick fair lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was nearly opaque and dark brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of strong vinous malts. Its mouth feel had a mild vinous malty bite in the aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild chocolate vinuous dark malty notes.

(Bottled) Dark, opaque, reddish brown color with a medium, beige head. Very strong rye-pudding aroma with lots of dried fruit and a hint of alcohol, plus orange-peel and other spices. Very malty, somewhat anise-licoricey flavor with plums and spices. Initially sweetish and caramely, but dries out nicely towards the finish. Quite full-bodied palate with perfectly balanced carbonation. A really tasty, extremely balanced and strong dubbel brewed with taste (not overdone).

Unclear bown with fine large white head. Sweet aroma of malts, plums and spices. Sweetness. Rather thin body. Fine lacings on the side of the glass. Dry easy bitter finish
