3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skinnyviking (5472) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 22, 2007
Bottle. High creamy and long lasting off-white head. Hazy orange read body. Powerful barley malt aroma with a good deal of alcohol, grassy notes and a faint hint of cocoa. Sweet caramel coffee flavor made less sweet by a good deal of alcohol and a bit of bitterness. Low carbonation. Short aftertaste. Interesting and hard to describe.

Hoppy malt smell. Sweet, semi-bitter taste with a yeast aftertaste. Drinks like a belgian beer, but made in New York! Yummy.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 11, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2004 12. oz bottle. Dark brown with ruby tinges around the edges. Good size tan head. Slightly vinuous alcoholic notes in the aroma overlay the malt. First impression was of sweet malty molasses which fades into the background somewhat as the full boidies alcohol asserts itself. Interesting finish and aftertaste with some lingering dark fruits. Palate is quite nice. Good beer well deserving of the re-rate.

Nat a bad drink, but I truly thought it was a dubbel until I sat down to rate it. Cloudy brown with a creamy tan head, it smelled of caramel, brown sugar, and was lightly spiced. The flavor of this medium-bodied ale is toffee & caramel with white peppers and a suggestion of chocolate, all followed up by a surge of alcohol in the spicy finish. Not a complex strong ale, but a good one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ernest (5116) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 17, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2009 750mL bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, cookie, cake), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of date and orange peel. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Seven years since my last review of this? Wow. Scores about the same as other Ommegangs...high 2’s to low 3’s is about where all of them fall. Consistent, but unimpressive. Nice aroma on this one, but rather flimsy, watery, and uninteresting in the mouth.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - AUG 18, 2005
Bottled. Reddish brown coloured. Yeasty aroma with notes of fruits. Very sweet and yeasty flavour with loads of caramel and toffee. Extremely high carbonation level.
