From Bottle. Nose is sweet and fruity, with notes of brown sugar and dark fruits (cherries perhaps?) that culminate to form a very complex aroma. Appearance is not quite a red shade of burgundy with a very fluffy and fragrant off-white head. Taste has a lot of the aromas described above, with some honey. Slight carbonation with thick, full mouthfeel. Reminds me very much of most the barley wines I’ve had. Really quite delicious.

What a great glass of beer. 750 ml. to Trappist glass. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a nice thick cream colored head that stayed for a good while, and when finally thin was consistently lacing as it moved down the glass with every sip. Great smells initially, toasty malt with all kinds of fruit smells, apple, banana, pear all dipped in caramel. Decadent as Godiva chocolate. Alcohol is present, but does not over power the good smells. Tastes are with that fruit, sweet, but with a touch of sour that is really so well balanced it is almost like eating something really good. Palate supports that feeling, it is slightly chewy, with a full body and medium carbonation. Finish is like you just had a crisp mackintosh apple and a bite of Sees Toffee. Mildly bitter sweet but oh so nice. Boys, this is a good beer.

750 ml bottle....pours a dark amber color with a fluffy light tan head. Cherries, plums, dough and yeast aroma. Creamy mouthful with the 8.5% hidden well. Very much a easy drinking dubbel, very smooth and very complex. Excellent beer, highly recommended!

The color of this beer is of the most beautiful hue of mahogany. The nose is full of dark fruit; dates, currants, with a hint of sour acidity. Given a chance to warm, and the flavor fills the whole mouth with a galactic spectrum of every cured fruit imaginable. Finish is long enough to pause for many seconds to ponder the rich, broad profile of the beer.

pours a dark brown caramel color with a creamy head. Has flavors of citrus, herbs, caramel malts and a toastyness. The spice lingers on the pallet. Overall one of my favorite beers.
