COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Pours a hazy deep ruby (almost matches the bottle label) with a gorgeous and thick reddish-tan head. Fades to full lacing that grips the sides of the glass incredibly well. The nose is heavy with rich dark fruits, fig, date, with a slight bready yeast presence and a bit of alcohol. Nice sweetness, not overwhelmingly so, with a slightly sour backbone and finish. On tasting, some roasty and chocolatey notes come out in support of the rest of the palate. Full bodied, creamy, sticky, great carbonation, with a long, tasteful, lingering finish. This is a very good beer.

Beautiful reddish brown color. Clove and bread aroma and initial palate. Rich alcohol and spicy yeast finish. Carmelized sugar lingers. Damn good.

750ml bottle. Raisin and something slightly sour in the aroma besides malty sugar. Flavor is round caramel and candy. Lingering finish is exquisite. So much flavor is contained in each mouthfull it’s hard to figure it all out, it makes each sip more interesting then the last. Hop character isn’t apparent, it’s just enough to balance all the amazing sugar and malt flavors. Yay beer!

Pours medium brown with a moderate light brown head and a touch of sediment. Nose is delicious and smells of a deep brown sugary malt and a little yeast. Flavor is rich and layered with caramel, both brown and white sugars, abbey yeast, a little alcohol, light hops and spice, and an unidentified (by me, anyway) last flavor that adds more depth. Very drinkable. Finish is a little sticky and mostly sweet. One of the best beers I have ever had.

Appearance is dark amber, with a hazy layer of yeast settled at the bottom of the bottle. Thick, creamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet. Taste is well balanced. Hints of smokiness, fruit, and sugar. Sweet finish and palate feel. A bit sticky in the mouth. Exceptional beer.

Really impressive. A wonderful mixture of Belgian ingredients and American brewing. It has a slight, fruity aroma and a beautiful, dark burgundy color that sparkles deep marron when held to the light. Thick, fluffy head that leaves a good film. Flavor is malty and fruity, almost whiskey-like. The palate is crisp and clean with overtones of the malt.

Aroma: Lots going on here--raisin, chocolate, caramel, licorice. Nothing too overpowering or singled out, all put together in a pleasant, sweet perfume. Appearance: Clear dark reddish brown with a thick, frothy tan head. Taste: Medium sweetness, light sourness. Palate: Full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, long finish Overall: A bit too fruity for me, but still a very solid beer. I could see this pairing well with a hearty stew or French Onion soup, or possibly a roasted duck. There’s a lot happening here, and it’s all working well.
