4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Poured a hazy brown with a large tan rocky head and had good lacing. The aroma was of sweet toasted malts, dried fruit, a leathery yeast and had a moderate alcohol scent. It tasted slightly sweet yet acidic in the beginning and finished about the same with a mild alcohol flavor. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body with the texture being quite creamy. Overall an assume brew and quite satisfying to drink.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Aroma has caramel, malts, licorice and toffee to it. The taste is the same. It actually tastes fairly similar to a Unibroue Maudite, without the alcohol burn. Very smooth for the abv, very tasty. The finish is somewhat dry and chalky. Overall I’d say it’s a very solid beer, worth your time and I can absolutely recommend it! 8.2% alcohol.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great dubbel style ale! Big billowy head. Complex aroma of malt and raisin and dark fruit and spice. Some sherry/rum notes, vanilla, and spice (licorice?) also in the flavor. Alcohol present, but pleasant. Thoroughly enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours an opaque rust brown, highly carbonated with a lumpy foam head. Spicy yeast and malt aroma. Sweet and spicy fruit taste, like red apple and cherry. Slight licorice at the end. Moderate sticky mouthfeel with a slight cherry aftertaste.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
nose: sweet sherry/port, cookie dough full of raisins, dates. super-ripe oranges.
palate: very sweet but with a nice twinge of acidity/carbonation, tastes like some kind of heavily spiced dark christmas cake chock full of red currants, cherries, figs, decaying oranges. a bit too much for my taste. finish is the best part...dry and smoky and the hops finally show up, along with strong licorice.
should be awesome with the right dessert. otherwise beware

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours deep but translucent brown with two finger head - beige, solid retention. Nose is fruity, caramel, marmalade, mild roasted grain, raisins and just a touch of earthy tartness. Palate is rich and hearty, full of textured caramelized malt sugar notes. Some very rich and nearly indescribable flavors open up right upon the first taste, with some light heat and alcohol as well as a taste that is almost meaty or glutamate. Flavor is a very complex merging of malt ad yeast flavors - cream, vanilla, banana. Some some bitterness and herbal flavors on the finish. A wonderful rendition of a dubbel that is worth revisiting over and over.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle pours a very murky copper amber with quite a bit of fluffy, off white head. Nose has loads of yeast character, spice, clove, pepper, lots of bubblegum, some ripe banana, some candy. Flavor follows right along, candy, some white pepper, bready notes come through, some caramel, clove, bubblegum, banana. Full bodied, sticky finish. A bit overdone.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown, cloudy color. Christmas cake, prune on the nose. Rich, dark, cooked fruit on the palate, with the carbonation giving it a kind of Dr. Pepper effervescent overall taste. Overall, a well-balanced professional product but not exactly my taste.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On the aroma, I picked up strong hints of licorice, Christmas fruitcake or panettone, prune, raisins, and other dried fruit, along with the usual caramel and maple syrup I normally associate with this type of brew. The appearance was a simply splendid amber colored beauty with a soft, tan pillowy head. It seems evenly medium-bodied on the tongue with perfect carbonation. The taste up front was slightly sweet and spicy in the licorice sense but then it quickly dries out once it get to the back of your tongue and upon swallowing. Endlessly fascinating. I do enjoy this style and am anxious to compare it to Chimay Rouge.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice-looking deep reddish-brown beer with a thick creamy tan head. Sour nose of light balsamic, blood orange, and resin. Flavor is both sweet and sour. It starts with orange blossom honey then moves to mirin before closing with some lightly burnt caramel. Richly effervescent, this is a quaffable abbey ale.
