On draft at bctc on 8/9/14. Only a 4 oz pour but all you need. A dark murkey brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet and woody with lite alcohol notes. A rich full flavor beer that is very dessert like with all kinds of spice, malt and caramel flavor. Great but in small amounts.

Draft. Brown color. Tan head. Bourbon aroma. Sweet. Taste is super vanilla. Not used to that. Heavy alcohol burn. Not bad and better than most ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at The Pony Bar HK, NYC. Pours cloudy copper-brown with a creamy, tan cap. The aroma is mostly rich, boozy bourbon with nips of caramel and overripe fruits. Flavor is big and sweet with further pronounced bourbon character, some lightly torched wood, sugary toffee, some figs and golden raisins. Full bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Warm to hot finish, more caramel, high octane bourbon, toffee, subtle wood, dark and well-ripened fruits. It’s a definite sipper, and the depth and intensity rewards the patient drinker.

Sampled at the First Inaugural Raleigh Rare and Vintage Beer Festival. Pours a very murky brown with ring of tan head. Smells very sweet of brown sugar and bourbon. The flavor is lightly citrus, sweet molasses, vanilla, bourbon, and wood. Syrupy body with LOTS of residual sugars. Very good.

Draft at CBW 2011. Poured reddish brown color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted with fair lacing. Moderate complex tart fruit, spice, yeast and bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy fruit & spice sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite. This beer exceeded my expectations.

Draft at EBF. Pours a bruin body with a yellow off white head. Very huge bourbon notes, very boozy sweet with vanilla and a modest booziness. Sweet and hot. Not bad, but in a sea of BA beers this one might sink a bit.

In short: A basic vanilla-riden fruity bourbonny ale. Ok.
How: From a bottle at Extreme Beer Fest 2011, Night Of The Barrels
The look: Dark brown body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose is moderate bourbon with fruity esters. Taste is smooth and round, light bourbon presence, lots of dark fruits, lots of vanilla, a bit of chocolate, very light spiciness, warm alcohol finish. Rounder, less spicy and maybe a bit better than the original. Still nothing to write home about. Probably not the best choice of beer to age in bourbon barrels. Brewers age any kind of beers on bourbon barrels these days. Is it good or bad? I can make a list of pros and cons but I’m not sure it will prove anything.. Pros: Peyton Manning, Tiger Wood. Cons: Charles Manson, Bernard Madoff.
