Ale brewed with Spices: Coriander, Cardamon, Mace, Grains of Paradise, Sweet Orange Peel. Adoration is a traditional winter ale, brewed in the Belgian manner, but with the twist of unusual spicing. Sip it on a winter eve sitting before a fire. You’ll understand why we couldn’t name it anything else.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice sweet citrus note with a decent amount of spice, some light fruits and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has a bit less citrus but still the light fruit note with some sweet grains, a good amount of spice and a hint of earthiness.

It poured a cloudy brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma was of sweet alcohol maltiness. The taste was of spicy alcohol with a great finish.

I think I’ll store the other three bottles I have and compare what a little aging will do for this beer. At $15/4 pack this must be compared to a true Belgian Christmas Ale and I think it comes up short. Aroma is very nice but faint, vaguely sweet and spicy. Malt and orangey spices upfront on a bed of sharp carbonation, with the coriander lingering alone after the other flavors fade. Sticky and sweet, but not much complexity. Tasty but this is a good candidate for cellaring.

Bottle share @ Surly Darkness day 2013. Deep red with a finger-wide khaki colored head. Aroma is of winter spices, citrus peel, banana, yeast, and red berries. Flavor is sweet citrus, cinnamon, sour mash, and booze.

The smell is pretty good but there is something about this one I just don’t like. I think the aftertaste is more like a weisse or a saison (beer types I do not like) than an ale.

Pours a deep bronze with large head. Lots of citrus on the nose (orange peel) and spices. Flavor is very sweet with alcohol on the tongue but not in the finish, which is smooth. Recommended.

On tap at One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale. Clear copper pours with an off-white head. Caramel, raisins, and molasses in the aroma. Red and green grape flavors with raisin, molasses, a hint of yeast. Pretty good stuff.

Poured an orangish brown, cloudy beer with a nice off white head. Aroma was nice but weak. It was too cold to start with. Taste was good, a bit sharp, malty with spices and fruits. aftertaste was nice. Mouth feel was good.
