Dark brown pour with thick, light tan head. Aroma of cardamom, orange peel, toffee, caramel, maybe some fresh baked brownies. Flavor is spicy and doughy, almost like a Christmas cake. Almost like a really good fruit cake. This beer is like Christmas dinner at grandmaís, and she thinks youíre losing weight.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml caged&corked bottle. Pours garnet/brown with orange and ruby highlights and a medium-sized light tan head that leaves a few small spots and streaks of lace on the glass. Aroma is great - complex spice/fruit from fermentation character with subtle fruity acidity, tangy malt+honey, touch of alcohol, and toffee and brown sugar notes. The flavor follows the aroma: sweet up front with toffee and cakey malts, lots of molasses and subtle sweet spices. Finish has nice balancing bitterness and suitable dryness with light acidic tang growing, complementing the fruity esters and blend of sweet and dark malt flavors. Finish also features hints of spices mentioned on the label (particularly grains of paradise and sweet orange peel). Mouthfeel is pleasant - creamy, full, and well-bubbled. Overall, a very enjoyable beer. Delicious.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
At local tasting
This was good enough that I grabbed one of four available bottles to cellar for a while. I think it may be a bit hot right now unless you like things boozy; with a few months it might settle down into a more drinkable release.
Aroma / Appearance - Carbonated with a bronzish/coppery tone it glows under the light. A thin white head bobs atop like the crest of an ocean wave. Spicy nutmeg is a strength; the medicinal aspect is a definite weakness.
Flavor / Palate - Warmth oozes over the tongue until the entire mouth is like the inside of a greenhouse. Brown rice, chocolate, cherry, and Christmas seasonings give this a nice bit of depth. Once it has time to settle it will be a great beer. I think I may revisit it again towards the end of winter.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer pours a deep amber color. It is hazy but with no tannins present. It has about one fingers worth of head. The color is an off white and has no lace. If you take a whiff of the beer before you, you will find that it is pretty complex. I got a brown sugar with cinnamon smell. Hints of sweet banana and raisin were also present. Tasting the beer and I immediately taste the dark malt. I also get a raisin and plum after taste. Also prevalent is a hot liquor bite. The after taste is a sweet cloying after taste with some mild bitterness. Overall, this is a nice beer. It is definitely a sipper as the cloying after taste can be over powering but over all it is one that you should give a taste.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at GABF 2009. Ommegang took out a full-page ad for this beer in BeerAdvocate magazine, and ok, I caved and had to try some. Deep reddish-brown color with a lasting foamy off-white head. Aroma is very nice with loads of holiday spices, caramel malt, gingerbread, and dark fruits. Flavor is just a tad overspiced with sweet caramel malt, gingerbread cookies, yeast, banana, sugar plum, brown sugar, and alcohol. Itís good but the balance is not great. Body is fairly full and the palate is smooth with medium-high carbonation. Drinkability is not great with the high spice level, fullness, and sweetness.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
GABF 2009. Pours sparkling brown with an average, frothy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel), average hop (flowers, herbs), heavy yeast (barnyard, earth) with notes of banana, bubble gum, plum, and brown sugar. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
GABF 2009 notes: Beautiful label advertisement, unsatisfying result. Pours maroon brown with a lively head. Aroma and flavors reveal dried strawberry, plum, banana and peat. Finish contributes boozy flavors. The mid-palate flavors just hang around so sweet it was disturbing. There is complexity there, but it seems a bit clumsy. Perhaps some more age would mellow and improve Adoration.
