COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with Spices: Coriander, Cardamon, Mace, Grains of Paradise, Sweet Orange Peel. Adoration is a traditional winter ale, brewed in the Belgian manner, but with the twist of unusual spicing. Sip it on a winter eve sitting before a fire. You’ll understand why we couldn’t name it anything else.

Pours a primarily dark red color, significantly paler next to light. Hazy with a strong off-white head. Complex aroma of spice, caramel, banana, orange peel, and toffee. Taste is definitely on the banana side, with notable orange peel and candied nut flavors. Some complexity is lost due to the high carbonation, but a very nice beer overall.

Transfer from BA review on 1-14-14- Poured from bottle into a tulip glass Appearance – The beer pours a hazed deep copper/mahogany color with a two finger tan colored head. Tons of smell carbonation bubbles can be seen streaming through the brew even in light of the hazed appearance. The head has a fantastic level of retention, slowly fading to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of some sweeter fruit aromas of raisin and plum with other sweet smells of molasses and caramel. Along with these aromas are some chocolate and roasted malt smells as well as some aromas of spice and a bit of yeast. The spice smells are a nice mix of coriander, clove, dried orange peel, and a bit of nutmeg. Overall the brew has a very dark, fruity, and moderately spicy smell. Taste – The taste begins with a nice dark fruit flavor of raisin and plum with other sweeter flavors of caramel right from the start. Beyond these flavors are some bready and lightly roasted malt flavors. A lighter yeasty flavor is present from the start as well with it gaining intensity as the flavor advances. The spice flavors follow the yeast flavors quite well, with all the spices detected in the nose (coriander, nutmeg, clove, and allspice) all gaining strength as the flavor moves to the end. Some lighter orange peel flavors also come to be, as well as a moderately strong boozy taste. In the end the combination of flavors leaves a nice warming, fruited, and spiced Belgian strong dark flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side for a brew of 10 % abv with a carbonation level that is high and consists of tons of prickly carbonation bubbles. For the style, the thinner body and high carbonation are fantastic for the yeast, spice and fruit flavors of the beer, making for a crisper brew even in light of the high abv and richer dark fruity flavors. Overall – A highly spiced Belgian Strong dark with a moderate boozy but very drinkable taste. This was one I rather enjoyed.

Pours from 12 oz bottle, into my Ommegang tulip, a very deep red & brown body with a fully coating creamy dense tan head. Aroma is very nice with loads of holiday spices, caramel malt, gingerbread, and dark fruits. Flavour is sweet up front with toffee and cakey malts, lots of molasses and subtle sweet spices. Finish has nice balancing bitterness and suitable dryness with light acidic tang growing, complementing the fruity esters and blend of sweet and dark malt flavours. Really tastes like a spice cake or cookie. Nice beer, even though not my style.

"I like the spices used here. The best word i can think of for this combo is alluring. A touch sweet, fruity, brown sugar spice as well. The mace and cardamom are sure interesting. If the feel was a little more robust I’d really really like this."

Ommegang Adoration has a dark reddish tan color body with a hazy complexion. Its head is light tan in color, fades quickly and leaves very little lacing on the glass. The aroma is rich and full with a spicy character. It starts with bready maltiness then adds notes of coriander, clove, citrus peel, a touch of yeast and some mellow alcohol. The flavor full of complex spices hops and malt all in a solid medium to full body with lively carbonation. The base has dark dried fruity notes with sweet bready maltiness, yeast and mellow warm alcohol. The spices add the next layer of complexity and dryness with peppery notes, ginger, clove, coriander and citrusy orange peel. Hop flavor is complementary and adds its own spicy notes and more dryness. Hop flavor is most noticeable in the finish which is quit dry and has lingering spice and yeast notes. I normally don’t like overly spicy Christmas beer but this one works. Overall this one is outstanding. It has many different layers of flavor and is never dominated by just one spice.

Pours a very nice darker reddish color with off-white head. Spice, coriander, citrus zest, and some caramel malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice roasted note and a little toffee.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Clear amber red color. Thin ring of off-white head. Wow, really interesting aroma. Dark fruit, winter spices, and kind of caramely, something like ginger bread... That orange peel must have me thinking belgian noel beer. Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy... Hides that 10% well, it works for this beer. Just a slight bit of warmth; reasonable amount of sweetness. Bigger body. Light, smooth lighter carbonation. Kind of slick texture, but it dries up a bit in the finish. Pretty impressive belgian-style winter ale. Very on-point, yet still creative and unique.

Ugh, would be soo much better without the cardamom. Good alcohol which made things overcome the rest.
