The beer pours a deep red color with a cream-colored head. The aroma is heavy on the toffee and caramel malt, along with some Belgian yeast, brown sugar and cinnamon. The flavor is heavier on the spicing than the aroma. I get cinnamon and cloves, as well as some brown sugar, caramel malt, yeast, dark cherries and a little bit of alcohol. Still, the alcohol is fairly well hidden for a 10 percent ABV beer. Medium mouthfeel and high carbonation.

To me this is a variation of their Three Philosophers. Which is one of my favorite American beers. This beer is great, itís dark roasty, dried fruits, that changes as you sip it. If you like Belgian beers this is a must try.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
An dark amber body with a thick light beige head that had decent retention and nice lace. Aroma had a heavy banana presence. Hints of alcohol, spices and some orange peel. There was a mild sweet malt note. Flavor seemed to be heavy on the banana and was almost cloyingly sweet. A nice warming alcohol presence to it. Carbonation was slightly elevated, but not in a bad way.

Iím a sucker for Belgian styles... And holiday spiced beers... And high gravity yet balanced versions of the previously stated. So yea, if you like those things, this is the business. If you could say Anything bad itís maybe a little light and dry on the palate. Wonderful effort!

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours deep brown/ruby with a thick, cream-colored head. Aroma of spicy yeast, other spices, some dark malts and dark fruits, a little dough and caramel, some sweet malts, and a light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not a bad beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep maple syrup color. Possibly the apiciest beer Iíve ever had. Immediately apparent. Thick malty sweetness with molasses and caramel. Definitely feels boozy. I donít think itís the best Belgian strong ale Iíve had because it had some metallic notes early on but still an enjoyable brew because of itís spice content and well executed malt profile
