4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
750ml corked and caged bottle.
It pours beautifully to start. It is a nice dark plum/fuchsia with a big foamy tan head that billows high. It sticks for a nice while as well.
It smells pretty nice as well. I would have perhaps dropped the cardamom, but overall it smells very wintry and spicy. The spices really take over in this one. There is a nice underlying sweetness, but it is mostly herbal/spice.
The flavor continues with the spice. Again the Cardamom is up front. The mace and grains of paradise add a nice spiciness and the coriander gives it that spicy body. The orange peel is an addition to the sweet malt with lacks any sort of bitterness.
It really is a winter warmer; Cuddling up with this beer is the ultimate relaxation on a cold winter’s night.

Ommegang Adoration has a dark reddish tan color body with a hazy complexion. Its head is light tan in color, fades quickly and leaves very little lacing on the glass. The aroma is rich and full with a spicy character. It starts with bready maltiness then adds notes of coriander, clove, citrus peel, a touch of yeast and some mellow alcohol. The flavor full of complex spices hops and malt all in a solid medium to full body with lively carbonation. The base has dark dried fruity notes with sweet bready maltiness, yeast and mellow warm alcohol. The spices add the next layer of complexity and dryness with peppery notes, ginger, clove, coriander and citrusy orange peel. Hop flavor is complementary and adds its own spicy notes and more dryness. Hop flavor is most noticeable in the finish which is quit dry and has lingering spice and yeast notes. I normally don’t like overly spicy Christmas beer but this one works. Overall this one is outstanding. It has many different layers of flavor and is never dominated by just one spice.

Pours a very nice darker reddish color with off-white head. Spice, coriander, citrus zest, and some caramel malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice roasted note and a little toffee.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Clear amber red color. Thin ring of off-white head. Wow, really interesting aroma. Dark fruit, winter spices, and kind of caramely, something like ginger bread... That orange peel must have me thinking belgian noel beer. Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy... Hides that 10% well, it works for this beer. Just a slight bit of warmth; reasonable amount of sweetness. Bigger body. Light, smooth lighter carbonation. Kind of slick texture, but it dries up a bit in the finish. Pretty impressive belgian-style winter ale. Very on-point, yet still creative and unique.

Ugh, would be soo much better without the cardamom. Good alcohol which made things overcome the rest.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
75cl C&C bottle from 2011, best by 2016. Pours a clear bronze color with a small khaki head and bubbly carbonation. The aroma reminds me of a quad with sweeter malt, molasses and some earthiness. Lots of spice in the flavor but also a strong malt backbone. Pretty tasty.

Pours a dark copper near brown with eggshell laying foam. Grainy sweet spiced Belgian aroma. Earthy musty Belgian grains, light funk thing with a lot of spices all over the wall. As it warms the sweetness rides with the spices and subdued them making it another and more approachable overall, pretty solid carbonation, lasting spice grainy dryness in finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt notes of cookie and caramel, moderate cooked orange for the hops, dough for the yeast, with raisin, brown sugar, cola and a mix of baking spices. Head is average size, frothy, beige with thick yet slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. palate is on the fuller side of medium, slick with a fizzy carbonation. Wow! This Belgian Strong Ale ranks right up there with the top Belgians of the same style.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice sweet citrus note with a decent amount of spice, some light fruits and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has a bit less citrus but still the light fruit note with some sweet grains, a good amount of spice and a hint of earthiness.
