4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
750ml corked and caged bottle.
It pours beautifully to start. It is a nice dark plum/fuchsia with a big foamy tan head that billows high. It sticks for a nice while as well.
It smells pretty nice as well. I would have perhaps dropped the cardamom, but overall it smells very wintry and spicy. The spices really take over in this one. There is a nice underlying sweetness, but it is mostly herbal/spice.
The flavor continues with the spice. Again the Cardamom is up front. The mace and grains of paradise add a nice spiciness and the coriander gives it that spicy body. The orange peel is an addition to the sweet malt with lacks any sort of bitterness.
It really is a winter warmer; Cuddling up with this beer is the ultimate relaxation on a cold winter’s night.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This beer is exactly what I feel a lot of other beers try to be when they mix distinct flavors. This is equally spicy and sweet, but the flavors aren’t in competition with each other and it makes for a fantastic beer. This is probably the best winter ale I’ve ever had that actively distinguishes itself from all other winter beers without going overboard and making some strange, gimmicky beer whose recipe will need to be altered every year.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
reddish-brown color; nice spicy aroma; smooth with dark fruit, Belgian yeast, and lots of spice notes; a very complex, well balanced beer; lots going on, but it all blends together wonderfully; cardamom and corriander notes with hints of citrus

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour on tap at Busters on 28th, hazy golden orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big coriander, clove, lemon zest, some slight spicy, peppery notes into a bit of cinnamon, some caramel, and bready notes. Taste was dominated by spice, lemon, and lots of pepper, with nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, some slight fruit, finishing with caramel, toffee, and more spice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours hazy copper-amber color with a creamy, 2-finger tan head. Nutty malt aroma, with notes of coriander, citrus, and a touch of yeast. Full body with a mild syrupy thickness. A brief note of astringency to the finish. Flavor of nutty malt with a lingering spice note at the back. A mild note of citrus underneath. Still pretty "young", but good. Have a feeling it’ll improve with age.

Pretty light tasting for style and considering alcohol percentage, which is well hidden. Pours dark amber with God head and lacing. Light raisins. Some florals. Light sweet finish. Tap at rustico.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Packaged 9/11/14. Appearance: Light brown and clear with reddish/orange hue. Minimal cream colored foam cap.
Aroma: Orange peel, coriander, and Belgian fruity esters (apple). Hint of maltiness.
Taste: Rich caramel malt sweetness with intense spice and orange peel. Noticeable pear fruitiness and nutmeg like spice. Like a spiced quad. Just enough bitterness to balance the intense malt and spice flavors.
Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderately high carbonation with noticeable alcohol warmth.
Finish: Finishes malty with lingering spice, pear, and orange peel.
Overall: A really well done spiced quad. Orange peel, spices, and Belgian esters combine perfectly

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle purchased at Haskells for March Madness. Consumed with commomshawn and rosskyle. Very appealing amber/plum color with a slight off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, sweetness, almost berries, and vanilla. Taste is in the realm of a Belgian quad with the malty sugars taking center stage with a strong supporting cast of dark fruits and alcohol. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Plenty of spices. Really impressive beer that seems like a perfect representation of the style. Great beer! This is a special moment for me in my rating career...#500. I’d like to thank all the people who helped get me here and am humbled by the opportunity to continue onward on the rating journey.
