COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Greek mythology, Aphrodite rises from the foam of the waves of the sea, enchanting all who see her, and inciting thoughts of love and lust where ever she goes. We could hardly say it more eloquently. Our Limited Edition Aphrodite Ale is ethereal, intriguing and mysterious Ė as the Goddess Aphrodite must have been. Aphrodite has champagne-like carbonation, much as the foam of the waves of the sea. Plus enchanting flavors with whispers of raspberry and pear, and hints of funk and tartness created by the Brett yeast. The refreshing dryness comes from the unusual combination of Ommegang and Brett yeasts, and incites feelings of love and thirst, though we donít know about lust. Grains of paradise are infused into the nectar, and when poured Aphrodite is crowned with a luxuriously shimmering rose-pink head.

Bottle split with Lee. Pours a purplish-rose with light head and some lace. Nose of strawberry, raspberry, brett funk. Medium to light body. Decent fruit beer.

Topped by a fine, rosy salmon-colored head thatís extremely dense, itís really interesting in appearance. Underneath that rose-colored head is a solid ruby-colored body that resembles some sort of exotic juice. It smells almost like a cider, fruity and champagne-like. Itís very fruity. Itís very fruity in the mouth as well, with bold raspberry dominating the flavor as well as aroma. After further intake of the beer itís apparent that the pear content is giving the beer its cider-like qualities. The strong fruity, alcoholic flavor reminds me of a light-bodied fruity cough syrup or strong lambic. It definitely lives up to its name. This is probably the most chicky beer Iíve ever tasted. Itís very smooth, light bodied, refreshing, and entertaining on the palate. Lots of fun delicious flavors dance on the tongue. The more you drink the less it tastes like cough syrup. Overall, itís a very nice beer. Itís definitely not something most people are used to drinking, and itís a little too fruity to drink in large quantities. This beer should be set aside for special, fruity occasions. Very well done!

Rated on 6-14-2012 (Corked and caged bottle) The appearance is a large fizzy pinkish head with a short retention, hazy reddish body, slow rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is raspberries, tart, suggestion of sourness, sweet, and brett. The flavor is raspberries, tart, sweet, brett, and has a dry finish. The mouthfeel bubbly and this beer is light-medium bodied. The flavor seems a bit disjointed and it is a bit too tart tasting for my liking.

Transfer review from BA reviewed on 2-8-12 - Had on tap and served in tulip shaped glass Appearance Ė A deep ruby red color with some haziness. A light head was present upon serving which faded giving a small amount of lacing. Smell Ė The fruit aroma is really potent for this brew. Strong aromas of raspberries and cherry are at the start, souring as the aroma advances; giving a smell of citrusy lemon. At the very end a bit of booziness mixes in with the sour; finishing off the aroma. Taste Ė The fruit that is present in the aroma is the first to be detected. Sweet flavors of raspberry and dried fruits meet the tongue. The maltier-bready backbone of the beer then starts to develop and maximizes in the middle of the taste profile. The sweet and maltiness slowly gives way to a much drier flavor profile toward the end. As the brew warmed itís dryness intensified at the expense of the sweet. In many ways its flavor was very on par with a moderately dry champagne. Mouthfeel Ė A crisp mouthfeel with a lighter body and a bit of a higher carbonation level. Again more dry champagne like; a bit of a bite on the tongue with some soothing carbonation bubbles. Overall Ė It was worth a try, but nothing I would go to on any real occasion. If looking of a beer alternative to a champange then this is it, but otherwise nothing too spectacular.

Poured bright red with a bubbly pink head. Aroma of tart raspberries and Brett funk. Sweet and sour flavor. Palate is light, fizzy, and lively. Good fruit beer but not really my favorite style.

On the Second Day of Christmas 2013....pours light reddish brown with a very small and quickly dissipating head. Aroma is earthy, funk and raspberry. Taste is sweet with a lingering tartness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. A very good brew.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 6/9/2011. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big tart raspberry, cherry skin, pear, green apple, hay, straw, grass, Brett funk, vinegar, leather, clove, pepper, red wine, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of tart fruits with spicy/funky yeast and brett notes with moderate malt sweetness; and great strength. Taste of tart raspberry, cherry skin, pear, green apple, pepper, clove, hay, straw, grass, Brett funk, vinegar, leather, red wine, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart fruits, clove, pepper, hay, straw, grass, Brett funk, vinegar, leather, red wine, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of tart fruit with spicy/funky yeast and brett notes; with a good tartness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a slick, moderately syrupy, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent fruited wild ale. All around great complexity and balance of fruit and yeast/brett flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle shared at craft ale house. Pours reddish copper with a small off white head. The aroma is a gorgeous mix of raspberry and cherry. The taste is raspberry and relatively sweet. Solid.
