COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Greek mythology, Aphrodite rises from the foam of the waves of the sea, enchanting all who see her, and inciting thoughts of love and lust where ever she goes. We could hardly say it more eloquently. Our Limited Edition Aphrodite Ale is ethereal, intriguing and mysterious – as the Goddess Aphrodite must have been. Aphrodite has champagne-like carbonation, much as the foam of the waves of the sea. Plus enchanting flavors with whispers of raspberry and pear, and hints of funk and tartness created by the Brett yeast. The refreshing dryness comes from the unusual combination of Ommegang and Brett yeasts, and incites feelings of love and thirst, though we don’t know about lust. Grains of paradise are infused into the nectar, and when poured Aphrodite is crowned with a luxuriously shimmering rose-pink head.

Fun and funky. I love this beer very much a one of a kind. Amber in color with reddish and pink hues and a off white to lite pink head. Aroma is so funky, tart and yeasty. Full flavored tons of fruit, yeast, funk and sour. Fizzy and hints of pepper stay on your plate.

On the Second Day of Christmas 2013....pours light reddish brown with a very small and quickly dissipating head. Aroma is earthy, funk and raspberry. Taste is sweet with a lingering tartness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. A very good brew.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 6/9/2011. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big tart raspberry, cherry skin, pear, green apple, hay, straw, grass, Brett funk, vinegar, leather, clove, pepper, red wine, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of tart fruits with spicy/funky yeast and brett notes with moderate malt sweetness; and great strength. Taste of tart raspberry, cherry skin, pear, green apple, pepper, clove, hay, straw, grass, Brett funk, vinegar, leather, red wine, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart fruits, clove, pepper, hay, straw, grass, Brett funk, vinegar, leather, red wine, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of tart fruit with spicy/funky yeast and brett notes; with a good tartness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a slick, moderately syrupy, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent fruited wild ale. All around great complexity and balance of fruit and yeast/brett flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

750ml bottle 9/14/13 (Binny’s Glen Ellyn)-46° in Shaker-Pours a darker ruby with a rose pink head. Aroma of yeast, pear, and berries. Taste of tartness, raspberry, funk, and yeast. This light bodied brew almost comes across as a Lambic but with much more to it. It ROCKS.

Poured reddish orange into a tulip glass. Large head initially but it quickly dissipated. Light lacing on my glass. Aroma of apples, pears, raspberries and some yeasty funk. Flavor is initially quite sour. Each subsequent sip lessened the sourness. Nice raspberry flavor. Just an ever so slight sweetness to it. Finishes with slight bitterness. Great beer.

Rich red colored pour with a slight amber tinge. Small off-white head. Quick to disappear. Not much lacing. Huge berry aroma. Like blackberries. Very berry flavor. Nice sourness that fits right in. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
