Pours deep mahogany into a Trappist glass. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Dark caramel, roasted nuts and sweet malt aromas. Crisp with dark chocolate covered caramel and pit fruit upfront turning to bitter espresso in the lasting raisin finish.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle... Poured opaque, near black with a thick, long lasting, frothy, tan head. Such a dark beer for such a mellow, estery palate. Vinous with plums, grapes, prunes and other dark fruits like cherry skins. Fermented malt and yeast tones. A fruit juice sweetness with loads of yeast spices and fruit esters. Highly drinkable with low hop flavor and bitterness.

Some sweetness in the aroma. Looks okay. This was too sugary for my taste and a bit flat almost as well. Even started to get a bit of headache before finishing the beer. Totally disappointed, especially at the price.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A - Pours a dark brown-black color with a finger of frothy chocolate head atop. The head fades fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate and dark fruits, with some wheat, and some Belgian yeasts.
T - Starts off some roasted dark chocolate and sweet dark fruits with a bit of wheat. Through the middle, some oats come through with the Belgian yeast flavor getting stronger as well. The finish is a mix of chocolate, a bit of dark fruit, some wheat, and and Belgian yeast funkiness.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced with a good depth of balance. Really nice blend of chocolate and dark fruit with the yeast character.

The star of my night. In a flute glass, dark, auburn shade, creamy looking head. Woody, smokey, spicy nose. In the palate is spice, cloves, apples. Creamy mouthfeel, a tiny bit of hops , dryness at the back. This stuff rocks.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark brown, aroma of alcohol, yeast, and spice. Warming alcohol comes through on the initial taste and mouthfeel. Relatively crisp yet boozy. Subtle dark fruit (raisin) flavors come through on the finish. Paired with an afternoon BBQ, it held up well against various dishes and remained a nice compliment after warming. Drinks better paired than alone for my tastes

750 cc from Capone’s. Pours turbid chestnut with 3-finger splotchy tan head that laces irregularly. Nose is funky rock sugary malt, with figgy fruit, oaty cacao, hops. Tastes semi-dry, malty, yeasty, with figgy fruit, spice, cacao, and a dry finish. Very complex.
