4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep, opaque, brownish sable with a very thick and somewhat persistent light tan head. The sample I got fizzed quite a bit, so I recommend having a towel handy when you crack open a bottle. Aroma has notes of caramel and molasses plus hints of licorice and pear. Superb flavor has a malty core and fruity, caramel and molasses tones, hints of horehound, licorice and honey. Smooth, firm-bodied texture does not have a lot of fizz, but it still pleases. Let this "dark side" seduce you while you have the opportunity.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2012 How great it is to find truly unique beers. This looks like a stout but is lighter bodied and very carbonated. Strong aroma of malts and oats, and a very sweet finish. Great beer!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Poured black color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted cereal malt, yeast and floral aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where exceeded.

Pours a dark brown with long lasting pinkish off white head. Massive amounts of lacing. Aroma is banana, clove, figs, and yeasty. Taste is dark fruits, clove, yeast, and some molasses. Carbonation makes it light on the palate. Dry finish. Fantastic.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Milltown, ordered before I realized it was $8.50 for 12 oz. Fuck me. Pours a rich dark brown, nearly black, with a one-finger tan head. Nose reminds me a bit of the fruits that show in Pannepot... raisins and prunes, and maybe a hint of figs. Dark Belgian sugars. Yeast profile is a bit toward the Unibroue end--slightly floral and spicy--but not nearly as strong. Notes of cocoa and definitely some anise on the finish, and pleasantly dry.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Cocoa, citrus and yeasty aroma. The flavor is like a medium brown ale with Belgian yeast. The drinkability is superb and the enjoyment second to none. Perfectly for a Texas spring day when you want more flavor but a lighter body. Just watch the 8.7% because it shows itself nowhere.

Draft. Deep dark color. Almost like a stout. Very easy drinking. Not as booze as I thought. Almost like a imperial nut brown ale

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice roasted malt with a touch of dark fruit and sugar. Flavor is a dark plum with some chocolate malt and a fruity Belgian yeast. I guess this can be considered a Belgian stout. Lots of dark malt and fruit with a nice Belgian yeastyness.
