3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark caramel brown, with a significant white head. Excellent lacing. Smells of heavy malts. It is effervescent as advertised- very unique. Tastes of dark malts and molasses and is very flavorful in a refreshing way despite the dark profile. Doesn’t feel as strong as it is.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Poured a clear black color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with light dry fruit notes is quite sublime. Taste is also a great mix of candi sugars with some dried fruits and a solid Belgian malt backbone. Body is full enough for style with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Some spices can also bed detected. Very solid offering and this is a beer I could have more regularly.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours ruby black with a thin head. Fruity, chocolaty aromas--stone fruits and dark chocolate, raisin and caramel. Flavors are dark fruits up front, then chocolate, coffee, black pepper; raisin and bready notes in the finish. Noticeable alcohol warmth. Wow. This is really good! Peppery mouthfeel with a light, dry finish. This is a definite keeper.
