Tap at BCTC 2009. Pours a deep brown with a medium creamy tan head that laced. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and spicy notes from the Belgian yeast. Flavor of chocolate, nuts, vanilla and yes the Belgian yeast was poking through. The roasty/chocolate/coffee of the malt in this beer covered up some of the Belgian character.

Draft, at BCTC 2009. Pours deep brown, with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt, smoke, and mild hops. Fairly intense chocolate malt flavor, with nuts, coffee, and a little vanilla. coffee lingers on the palate. Body was a bit thin, but it was otherwise a solid offering.

Tap at BCTC. What a lovely beer! Best new beer of the fest for me. Labeled as Belgian, but this tastes more traditionally English to me, with a lovely, milky sour note sitting atop an otherwise roasty, nutty, toasty, and well balanced porter. Very enjoyable, and the only beer I had where I was pining for a full pint. Unfortunately, like all their other beers that day, this was on tap and off within 5 minutes. What the hell, guys. I hope I see this one again!

[BCTC 09] Mahogany brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, light smoke, and a bit of spices. Taste of dark chocolate, some roast, vanilla, and a dry, coffee finish.
