Bottle. Pours a cloudy light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of light citrus hops, light fruits, orange peel, Belgian yeast, and bready malts. Flavor of sweet fruits and Belgian yeast with some citrusy hops in the finish. Not overly hopped but rather the hops blend well with the base beer. Quite enjoyable!

On tap, downstairs at the Thirsty Monk. Cloudy orange, nice fluffy white. Very spicy aroma. Surprisingly clean palate. Nice and tasty - some yeasty notes, some bubblegum. As it warms, some notes of rosemary emerge. Very nice stuff.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy honey gold with a moderate, somewhat fluffy, linen white head that lasted until mid-glass and left considerable lace. Pleasant aroma of orange and Belgian yeast. The flavor is malt along with a very solid dose of spicy Belgian yeast. There is a slight mustiness to the flavor as well. Dries out towards the finish. Solid beer.

Lively pour - turbid golden body, with a well-sustained, soapy head - aroma of dry, crackery malts, citrus fruits, banana and other more mild phenols, a hint of wheat and toasted grains - carbonation is a little abrasive at first , but as the beer settles in the glass, it becomes much more soft in the mouth, despite how full it is - taste is semi-dry - a light, tropical fruit sweetness quickly makes way for some dry, biscuity malts, spicy/peppery character, fairly strong hop bitterness (for the style), mild belgian phenolic character (some plastic-like quality way in the back) - despite how dry it is, it is lacking a sturdy crispness that you would want in this style - instead, it is a bit "wet," with a body that kind of falls apart by the finish - still, it is decent, but I am sticking with Hennepin - it’s better, and quite a bit cheaper.

750ml shared with tastybeer. Pours a cloudy yellow with a relatively thin white head that leaves very nice lace. Aroma is very yeasty: musty, old closet, esters, some candi sugar. Loads of spice. Taste is dry, slight booziness and candi sugar coming through but mainly doughy malt, dryness. Not too much dry hoppiness coming through. Very good still.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (3798) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 24, 2010
750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Always nice to see a new brew from Ommegang. And the brew doesn’t fall short of the mark anywhere. But while I appreciate its look (an appealing cloudy pale gold, with roiling carbonation and a fluffy, long-lasting head), its aroma (vague yeast and bright hops, with a touch of bread like a biere de garde and a dry musty saison-like frame), and the taste (gently fruity, with a ripeness or gamey bit in the center), nothing about it knocks me out or even seems altogether too distinctive. Was a bit surprised, but could have been the wrong circumstances or something? Possible rerate for sure.
