This fine pale ale has citrus and tropical fruit aromatic shared with a well-balanced – yet abundant – hop character. It uses our own Belgian yeast, five malts, two hops, and plenty of patience. Finishing touches include dry-hopping with Cascade hops and warm-cellaring.

Reviewed 1/5/2013. Portion of a 750mL bottle poured into a pint glass. A: Pours a semi-hazy golden color with intense looking carbonation. The head is a four finger offwhite shade. Decent retention, but nice texturing and plenty of patchy lacing. S: The hops give it a strong herbal, piny, and grassy aroma. All of this melds with the cloves, bubblegum, apple, and ripe pear the Belgian yeast gives off. Not sure of its age, but the aromatic qualities still come together nicely - if a bit too bitterly. T: Seemingly far more balanced in the flavor than the aroma. Initially, there’s a lightly grassy and peppery flavor, before it permutes into a grapefruit sensation on the finish. There’s a touch of toffee (not caramel, though) somewhere in the midtaste. Complex enough (and I do mean enough. No need to ruin this with a haphazard profile) and incredibly refreshing. M: This one comes across lighter than it may seem, due to the way the finish dries out the yeast and the slight sweetness. Not as carbonated as it initially appeared. Enjoyably crisp. O: What puts this beyond the average summertime beer is its ability to transport its drinker from cold, dreary doldrums to a grassy field during a warm summer’s day in Upstate NY. Okay, that was really damn corny, but this beer is THAT refreshing. It makes me wish it wasn’t 35 degrees out, that’s for sure.

A vibrant golden straw or copper beer. A dense thick white head awaits you after the pour. Fairly aromatic beer with a nice sweet malt character spicy yeast and subtle hints of citrusy hops and banana. A nice tasting malt bill with maybe even some toasted malts. Hops are present but not over powering, more soft and subtle. with a lightly citrus flavor. Medium mouth feel that doesn’t get watered down or flat as you progress through. Spritzy with above average carbonation. Since I’m not that much of a wine drinker this would be an excellent choice to a BYOB.

Appearance:Color is a bright orange/amber with a nice white head

Aroma:Smells of citrus with maybe a bit of lemon, quite pleasant.

Taste:Tastes of orange and a slight breadiness with a hint of white grape or pear flavor, and ending with the perfect amount of hop bitterness.

Palate:A very clean mouth feel with a light-medium body with a slight bitter note at the end.

Overall:This is my favorite pale ale to date, nothing offensive with just the right amount of flavor and bitterness. Definitely pick this up if you happen to see it.

(US backlog 2012-13) 12oz bottles in NOLA SEP2012 and Madison/WI SEP2013. Dry and hoppy execution of a lower abv Belgian-style pale ale that I would like to see more of back at home: pleasant fruitiness stopped short before it verges into fuming esters, near-saison dryness, Liberty Ale-style use of Cascades. Does the BE "cathedral windows" of foam well. Best of both worlds.

The body is hazy and has an orange/gold colored body with a creamy light beige head. Its head is tall and frothy which makes nice spotty and slippery lace on the glass. As I slowly drink the head slowly settles to thin cap of foam that lasts to the last sip. In the nose I pick up sweet fruity and funky yeast with some bready maltiness and light floral/citrusy and spicy hops. On the tongue there is a similar mix of what was picked up in the aroma. I get notes of fresh peaches, white grapes, dried apricots, and funky/doughy yeast. This has a sweet character that begins to dry out as some of the hops move in and adds there mild bitterness and floral, citrusy grapefruit flavor.

Rated on 6-22-2012 (Corked and caged bottle) The appearance is a large frothy, fizzy white head with a long retention, hazy yellow body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, floaties, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is citrus, pine hops, fruity, musty, and caramel malt. The flavor is lightly bitter, citrus, fruity hops, sweet, caramel malt, light farmhouse, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, there are some farmhouse characteristics that I do not enjoy. This beer is worth trying nonetheless.

12 oz bottle. Bright golden orange with a slight haze and a large white head. Aroma is of bright citrus, light pepper, lots of fruity esters, apricot, tangerine and mango. Taste is of mango, pineapple, tangerine, light pepper, toffee, and grass. One of the best hoppy Belgian style beers I’ve had.
