Commercial Description:
Ommegang Biere de Mars is a fine Belgian-style amber ale with a bit of magical space dust woven in: Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, a wild yeast which imparts added tartness, extra zing, and a touch of funk - while dry hopping enhances the hop aroma.

750ml bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Batch #1 ’08. Poured a medium orangish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of light funkiness/brett, fruity, wood, some spiciness that came out as I drank this, and citrus. Tastes of the same lighter brett / funkiness, vanila, a little earthy, fruity, and lightly spicy.

Very good creamy head, dense over hazy dark orange to amber beer; well-carbonated. Brett (wet floormop var.), & citrus; orangepeel, overly acidic (lactic), weird fruit. Citrus, orangerind, spicy (coriander and other perfumey spices). Jumble of flavours, not consistent or balanced. Medium bodied, slickness, spritzy MF, mineral water quality. Ommegang tends to use the kind of Brett I don’t like. Or is the marriage of hops and Brett an uneasy one?

750ml bottle, served in a chalice. Beautiful soft peach colored body, cloudy and hazy, with a finely-bubble off-white head, long-lasting and thick. Nose is soft peach scented brettanomyces, some cobweb-like fruity melon with dry peach skin. Flavor is moderately dry and somewhat coarse, with a dry peach skin (very stale peach note) throughout, and a mild prickliness on the tongue. Thins out but it not weak at all... very light, airy, dusty and effervescent. Really nice dryness, but the flavors are fairly mild and at times it seems transparent. Still, quiet as it is, it’s delicious.

Bottle at chris_o’s pre beer exposed tasting. Alround rating: Typical saison, cereal grainy malts, subtle spice, very yeasty and bittering hop. I cant figure out why theres brett in here as its like so subtle you cant really notice it unless your told its there and unless you use like loads of it your not going to get any benifits.
