PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jan 19, 2009 I loved this one and had no trouble sipping through the whole 750! Rich chocolatey nose with notes of coffee and roast. Very dark brown color, almost black and totally opaque in the glass with a thick creamy tight bubbled head. The label calls is luxurious and both the appearance and mouthfeel approach that adjective. Big rich chocolate, molasses, and roast flavor but not overly sweet at all with enough dry roasty character to balance it out with touches of roast and smoke in the finish. Perhaps the dead on best beer Ommegang makes. BrianDorry55 (115), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Jan 18, 2009 Bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Aroma of coffee, malt, smoky alcohol...something else thats nice but I cant put my finger on it. Pours black with medium tan head. Flavor of dark chocolate, smoked pine, a little bitter like theres some IPA mixed in, some coffee too. Nice smoky aftertaste, easy to drink. Not as chocolately as youd expect...Some dark chocolate but more smoky than anything...Very solid. jkaiser (212), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 18, 2009 Beautiful chocolate beer. Lacing for days, chocolate accented head three inches thick. Darker than dark. Gorgeous. Flavours of chocolate malts and lite on the hoppy bitterness.
Golden chocolate. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 18, 2009 Bottle. High creamy and long lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Wonderful looks. Roasted barley malt aroma with coffee choccolate and a hint of nuts. Sweet smooth and round choccolate butter flavor without hops bitterness. Low carbonation and a long choccolate aftertaste. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Jan 12, 2009 A buddy of mine bought a bottle at wegmans. This one was pretty decent for a stout but nothing special. Pretty good all around. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany Jan 12, 2009 Nice dark black color, licorice intense nose, small head. Licorice, dark chocolate, raisons taste. Plum? Oily - pleasant mouthfeel. Long lasting aftertaste.Like it! jeff789 (357), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 11, 2009 Pours a deep deep brown nearly jet black with a big tan head that leaves a good amount of lacing... Aroma of bitter chocolate, roasted malts and sweet dark fruit possibly fig and raisin, and a hint of vanilla?... Tastes of dark fruits, bitter chocolate and roasted malts... Leaves a lingering oily feeling in the mouth, medium full bodied... Overall a good beer, but left me wanting more out of it... joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 10, 2009 Bottle.
Pitch black coloured with a medium sized lacing beige head.
Light roasted aroma of choclate with some sweetness and notes of caramel and nuts.
Light roasted flavour of chocolate with notes of caramel and hops.
Dry roasted finish.
Could use a bit more of everything.
