Draft at Hop Leaf. Poured an opaque black color with a light brown head that left some lace behind. Not surprisingly, there was lots of chocolate in the nose. layers of cocoa, chocolate bar, and chocolate brownie were accented by a hint of alcohol. Medium bodied, smooth mouth feel with carbonation on the low end of the spectrum. Slightly sweet with a flavor reminiscent of a low alcohol chocolate liqueur accompanied by some burnt toffee, and a hint of roast. Good stuff.

Gift to my wife on our 29th anniversary. Pour dark brown, with substantial rocky, longlasting tan head. Lots of lacing, all the way to the final sip. Aroma of dark roasted malt, chocolate malt, and real chocolate. Taste is the same, with chocolate definitely in charge. Taste evolves as it warms, eventually coffee appears in background. A slight sourness, but not really sourness, can’t put it to words. Slight smoke in the dry finish. Very smooth palate, adequate bitterness. Nothing to fault, everything to like in this one!

Tap at the Sunswick. Poured very dark chocolate brown. Definitely looks thicker than it is. The nose was as stated, all chocolate. I was a bit surprised by the flavor, and the fact that the mouthful was a very medium body. But the flavor is quite good, lots of chocolate, and some burnt sugars, maybe some coffee. It reminded me of the Mikkeler breakfast geek, and that is a high compliment. I really liked the malts they used,so much that I followed it up with another one.Nice beer.

Black pour with huge foaming tan head. Aroma is of coffee and chocolate. Flavor is chocolately, bitter, and dry. Dry finish, almost chalky. Alcohol is not present. Tastes like a chocolate coffee milkshake, almost like a Starbucks mocha or something. Great brew!

[Tap] Pours pitch black with a dark brown head. Aroma is like acrid cocoa beans, a touch of yeast, and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is pretty much solid semi-sweet chocolate. Somewhat dry mouthfeel. Really an awesome dessert beer.

Pours with a black body with a large, rocky brown head with good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, belgian yeast, smoke, tobacco, coffee, metal and vanila. Taste is chocolate, lots of smoke, leather belgian yeast. A bit dry and lively carbonation for a stout. A roasty stout.

On tap at Eli Cannon’s. Dark pour. Rich, solid flavor - tobacco, chocolate, hops, coffee, leather. Delicious and worth looking for!
