GregClow (2492), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 19, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown with a large, fluffy, tan head. Aroma is roasty with delicious dark chocolate notes and a slightly sour tinge. Medium bodied. Flavour is rich but not overly complex, just a really well-integrated combination of roasted stout flavours, dark chocolate, and a slight Belgian ale character. The more of these Belgian-style stouts I have, the more I really like them... DarkBeer (47), Ohio, USA May 19, 2008 Frothy head is huge, beer pours very dark. Chocolate shows up in the nose along with roasty malts. Creamy, satiny mouthfeel. Complex series of flavor, with the chocolate notes kicking in at the back end of the swallow. An outstanding stout. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA May 17, 2008 Poured black with a huge, thick, creamy brown head.
Rich, roasty chocolate aroma.
Flavor is creamy, rich and roasty with a light metalic flavor at the end.
Good beer! AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA May 13, 2008 Medium black with a light brown head that lingers. Nice smell of bitter cocoa with roasted malts. Light to medium body. Has a mild chocolate flavor with some mild roasted malts. Not too bad. smashteroid (227), USA May 9, 2008 On tap at the Ginger Man in Manhattan. Poured black with a nice tan-colored head. Aroma is filled with chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor has a hint of alcohol but is very chocolate and malt heavy. Slightly better than middle of the pack when it comes to chocolate stouts. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam May 9, 2008 Dark brown. Thick, rich head. Chocolate malt aroma with espresso accents. Medium body. Rich chocolate, some burnt fruit and mild roastiness. Nice dessert beer. blipp (1612), Newark, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2008 Draft at MacGregors in Rochester. Poured black with a lasting tan head. Aroma is rather light with dark chocolate and roasted malt notes. Medium body. Flavor has alcohol up front, followed by notes of chocolate, grass, roasted malt, and light smoke. Not bad, but I expected much better. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA May 6, 2008 Bottle from IrishBoy. Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, some smoke.
