On tap. Poured a dark black color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, and some citrus. Tastes of chocolate, roasty, and some coffee in the finish. Light lacing left on the glass. OK, but with chocolate in the name, I would like to have seen more chocolate in both the aromas and tastes.

750 ml bottle via Mys Swap 3.0 (Thanks dirty_martini!) Pours almost black with a large tan head that hangs around a long while. Nose is malty, with some fruity esters and a dash of chocolate. The taste though..wow...it is much more chocolaty than the aroma. It starts sweet, almost like maple syrup, then that quickly moves back and some toffee, berries, chocolate, and black malts take over, and it finishes with some pine that lingers with some soy into the aftertaste. Carbonation is medium, body is medium. Very tasty!

Black pour...very thick tan head which settles beautifully with relatively heavy lacing. Aroma is dominated by rich chocolate & cocoa, sweet coffee, roasted malts & a bit of yeast. Flavor is sweet (sweeter than I expected) chocolate (though the chocolate is not really ’that’ intense), roasted malt, and some bitter coffee accents. Uh-oh, there’s a fairly intense metallic flavor in there too, and its enough to detract from the quality of the beer. I didn’t find the metallic notes to be as dominating as the beer warmed, or if I took more than a small sip of the beer, which was sort of odd, but changed the way in which I consumed this one. Mouthfeel is pretty average...doesn’t coat the palate as I like my chocolate beers, but it is not offensive. Flavor does not last very long after the drink is over. Not a bad drink, but I can’t help thinking as the bottle disappears that this could have been much, much better.

On tap at Max’s. Dark brown pour with a white head. Nice chocolate malt aroma with hints of coffee. Real nice flavor....like chocolate milk. Can’t taste all that alcohol either. Very enjoyable.

Bottle poured nice a deep brown/black with a great tan head. Nice and roasty aroma with some chocolate. Fluffy head fades quickly. Initial taste receives a great rich taste full of malt and some grassy bitterness. The chocolate is at the swallow. Great use of chocolate in a stout. Very different from ST Choklat. That is a chocolate with some stout, this is a stout with some chocolate. Great beer! Try mixing this with Rogue Chipotle Ale. Chocolate and peppers go so well together.

Bottle: Dark black, tan head, light lacing. Nose of light roast and cocoa, some dry dusty chocolate, light yeast, some grape and alcohol, faint though. The flavor is metallic and sweet, roasty, not much chocolate though. Some tobacco and incense. Lame finish, not that good for the beautiful label and hype.

Pours dark brown/black with thick tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, cocoa, and malt. Taste has a weird metallic flavor to it. Medium body. Not much going on here except for chocolate and not much of that noted. Pretty boring.
