EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Feb 18, 2008 Updated: Mar 29, 2008On tap at Max’s. Dark brown pour with a white head. Nice chocolate malt aroma with hints of coffee. Real nice flavor....like chocolate milk. Can’t taste all that alcohol either. Very enjoyable. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Feb 18, 2008 Bottle poured nice a deep brown/black with a great tan head. Nice and roasty aroma with some chocolate. Fluffy head fades quickly. Initial taste receives a great rich taste full of malt and some grassy bitterness. The chocolate is at the swallow. Great use of chocolate in a stout. Very different from ST Choklat. That is a chocolate with some stout, this is a stout with some chocolate. Great beer! Try mixing this with Rogue Chipotle Ale. Chocolate and peppers go so well together. BückDich (4779), McCall, Idaho, USA Feb 17, 2008 Bottle: Dark black, tan head, light lacing. Nose of light roast and cocoa, some dry dusty chocolate, light yeast, some grape and alcohol, faint though. The flavor is metallic and sweet, roasty, not much chocolate though. Some tobacco and incense. Lame finish, not that good for the beautiful label and hype. jsh12bama (335), Alabama, USA Feb 16, 2008 Pours dark brown/black with thick tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, cocoa, and malt. Taste has a weird metallic flavor to it. Medium body. Not much going on here except for chocolate and not much of that noted. Pretty boring. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 14, 2008 From a 750 ml bottle--Poured a dark brown, black body with a nice lacey almond colored head. Roasty, nutty, chocolaty nose. Belgian yeastiness and hops in nose. Flavor is mildly chocolate but there’s a lot of metallic flavor. Sharply carbonated and crisp. Goes well with real chocolate. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Feb 13, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown and hazy in colour with a medium sized head. Kinda roasty and chocolatety with notes of rusty iron. Kinda strange. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 12, 2008 Bottle pours a dark brown with a quick fleeting light tan head. Lifht roasted aroma and a light chocolaye roasted flavor. Feel was a bit thin and rhe carbonation was fairly lively. Not bad. Thanks Jordan. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Feb 12, 2008 On tap at HDG. Deep dark brown in color with a off white thick head. Caramel malty nutty aroma. Coffee notes.
