On tap at Palm Tavern. Poured very deep reddish-brown with a tall, frothy cap of deep tan headage. The aroma picked up sweet, lightly-roasted cocoa and semi-sweet chocolates with cherry and vanilla undertones.. freakin’ dessert in a glass!! The flavor was chock fulla chocolate.. sweeter, darker, and cocoa present with moderate roast with a sweet, brownie-like back-end.. some cherry and vanilla show back there too.. “indulgence” was an ideal name for this. Sweet on the palate with just enough roast to it.. grainier on the back-end, and this made me feel like I drank my dessert. Great one!

Bottle; poured nicely into my tulip glass. Dark brown/black with a medium to large light brown head. Head stuck around for a while. Aroma was a nice blend of chocolate, roasted malt, and must; only slightly sweet. Taste was smooth, with more hop presence in the finish than expected (even for the style). Flavor was definitely mellow, not overly assertive at all. Didn’t pick up on too much chocolate and it definitely was not indulgent in the chocolate department. Solid beer, but didn’t live up the expectations that I had for it since picking it up when it first came out. Given the price, I probably won’t be picking up another one any time soon (assuming it becomes a regular or semi regular beer in the Ommegang lineup).

(bottle - corked & caged 750 ml) Thick and dark black pour with a thick and lasting brown head. Aroma is very roasty with hints of burnt malts, chocolate, coffee, and cream. Flavor is very dark and roasted with hints of coffee, cream, and a very light chocolate hint. Not a whole lot of chocolate, but very smooth and a little creamy at the end. Rather fizzy.

Dark & malty aroma on first pour. Settles to a fine creme-colored head that persists. The chocolate doesn’t really come through until the aftertaste, which is different, but not bad. The finish is relatively clean, & it’s a very pleasant beer overall, & not heavy at all.

750 ml bottle via trade with mcbackus and DocLock - Pours a dark brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma and flavor is roasted malt and light chocolate. Has a dry mouthfeel. Medium body. Overall a good beer, but I was expecting a little more. Thanks Matt and Jeff.

[837-20071115] 1pt9.4floz (c/o DuctTape, w/ him, jerc). Roasted woody coffee aroma has a hint of nail polish. Dark brown black body with a quick foamy light brown head. Flavour is mostly roasted malt with a bit of smoky room and not enough chocolate. Full body is smooth but has a bitter finish. Alcohol is well-hidden.

This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was chocolate and cocoa. The thick smooth mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The yummy flavor contained notes of mild hops cocoa and chocolate. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.
