4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ommegang’s Chocolate Indulgence begins with a mostly black pour with a dark purple hue. There isn’t much head, but what there is appears dark brown and sticks to the side of the glass. The nose is full of cocoa, milk chocolate and cream. The body reminds me of a port wine, but slightly carbonated and extremely smooth. The flavors are complex and well-rounded, with notes of cocoa, cream, chocolate, slightly bitter hops, toffee, marshmallow and lightly roasted coffee. The finish is fairly sweet, with some notes of whiskey, wood, milk chocolate and grassy hops.

On a chocolate beer kick and this will not appease the desire. I guess I am not a fan of Belgian yeast.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark black with thick tan head. Has a sweet malt and chocolate aroma with some citrus which is surprising given the color. Taste is very unique with a mix of sweet malt, chocolate, coffee, and some grains.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Dark brown with small head. Not what I expected and not my favorite. I understand this is a Belgian stout, but way too much clove and not enough roasted malt and chocolate.

Bottle thanks to respertFTW. Deep brown with a darker, beige head. Chocolate, earthy minerals and clove aromas. Maybe should be called "clove indulgence."

10oz draft poured dark brown with nice mocha head. soft silky chocolate accentuated with roasted malts. the flavor was quite smooth not bitterness to speak of just chocolately goodness, creamy texture blended very well. for a chocolate stout this rates up there. glad I finally got to taste this one.

I had really high expectations for this beer, between the cost, the bottle and the name. Perhaps they were too high, but I was disappointed all around, except for the appearance. I like the dark brown head, good lacing. I still can’t taste the chocolate. Hoppy, no bitterness, slight carbonation. Is drink it again if someone else buys it.
