Rich flavor. MiP (9045), Sønderborg, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2009 pours a thick brown/black. SUPER chocolate nose, some bread, dark fruits. Flavor is chocolate, dark and milk. Some dark fruits, yeast and sweet and bitter malts. Excellent dessert beer. MrRain (427), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2009 750ml bottle poured into a tulip glass. Shared this one with Kim. OCI pours black with nice yeast residue floating about. The head is large and persistent. The body is carbonated higher than is usual for a stout and the is also a bit weaker. This beer reminds me of a Baltic porter actually. The chocolate flavors are subdued. Roasted grains are more prominent. The finish is full of hops. KnutAlbert (3115), Oslo, Norway

Lovely cocoa, sweetish, but full of flavour. But I’m not sure itfunctions too well as a beer. CapnCascade (116), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 22, 2009 Black pour, moderate beige head with some retention and good lacing. Ashy nose mostly, seems to be the same thing I get from most beers that advertise chocolate as their saving grace (with the decided exception of the Brooklyn Chocolate Stout). Flavour is ash with some sweetness but also something unpleasant and metallic. Definitely not one of Ommegang’s more spectacular offerings. LIghtish mouthfeel with balanced carbo. Long, dry, chalky finish. Meh. mgermani (864), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2009 Pours a pitch black with a thin pale brown head. Ash and birch-bark aroma, earthy and dry. Tastes sweet and ashy, perhaps some dark chocolate but lots of dry chalky bitterness. Sweet with dried dark fruits, but not sticky-sweet. Thin body, lightly creamy with plenty of carbonation. Interesting, but not particularly enthralling. Papsoe (14881), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Lightly sweetish and smoky nose with some chocolate. Medium body, hard roasted malts, a little smoke, metal, chocolate and ashes. Dry and lightly malt bitter finish. 010509
