dark brown, small light brown head.
aroma : roasted stuff, faint plastic, toffee, ignited fireworks, gunpowder.
flavor : roasted grains, faint licorice, brown sugar, very well balanced. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark May 2, 2009 #19
Bottle. [Papsoe grand American tasting] Small almost brown fizzy light head. Spare display of lacework. Dark mahogany color. Aroma of mild chocolate, roasted malt, light metallic, hint of smoke and light dried fruity notes. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitterness. Light chocolate like finish. 5 / 2 / 5 / 2 / 12 = 2.6
yespr (11589), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 2, 2009 From bottle, Papsoes blindtasting #19. Pours pitch black and with a small tan head. Roasted and burned malt aroma, light metallic and dark chocolate. Light chalky touch. Roasted malty and breadish flavoured, light acidic touch. Vague smoked note. Dark roasted and vague metallic flavoured finish. Smooth chocolate like finish. bdigital (584), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 23, 2009 Draft: Pour was a dark brown bordering on black with a large tan head. Nose was pretty much nonexistent on this with some very light notes of chocolate and belgian yeast. Nice body and carbonation...flavor starts lightly sweet and chocolaty leading to a dry bready finish. Decent. snoot (277), Anaheim, California, USA Apr 22, 2009 Pours a dark brown, nice tan head with some decent staying power and lacing. Tastes a lot like an Young’s DC. Nice beer, but Youngs DC still wins out in terms of this style for me. Pours dark with nice beige head. Body is silky with big dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavours. Not bad.
gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Apr 19, 2009 Had this one bottled, thanks Slothgar! Opaque, dark brown pour with a long-lasting tan head. Milder nose than I would have expected, a touch of barbecue sauce, smoke, and sweet, bready malts. Flavor is quite malty, plum. Milky mouthfeel. Actually disappointingly mild. FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 18, 2009 More hops than I would’ve expected, and less chocolate. Obviously an ale of reasonably high quality just the same.
