3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 FullObs (132) - Illinois, USA - JAN 9, 2011Pours very dark brown with small tan head. Strong coffee aroma. Tastes mostly of coffee maybe a little bitter dark chocolate but not much. Was expecting a little sweetness and got a little bitterness. Not bad, an average to slightly above average stout.

Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of cocoa, dark chocolate, roasted malt, light char, raisin, prune, toast, toffee, earth, floral, clove, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with great balance, strength, and complexity of chocolate, dark malt, and fruity ester notes. Taste of cocoa, dark chocolate, roasted malt, raisin, prune, caramel, toast, toffee, earth, light clove, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, toast, toffee, earth, light clove, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of chocolate, roasted malt, and yeast ester flavors; with nice robustness; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian style ale! Great balance and complexity of chocolate, roasted, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottled in 9/12) Enjoyable brew that was so dark that I couldn?t even see through it when I held it directly up to the light and smelled like chocolate banana. The head from the pour took up half of the glass, but I wasn?t disappointed. The flavor of the foam was deep dark coffee that left behind some nice chocolate tones and so much lacing that it almost looked like the head hadn?t dissipated. The beer itself was a sweet, roasted malty Belgian flavor followed by coffee and chocolate that was mingled so nicely with the bitterness from the hops that I think I?d rate this one with the Imperial stouts. It is so smoothe, too. This bottle followed a bottle of Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro which has a little fuller body than Bud Light, so I may just be comparing it to that. I will say that it has a nice and smooth mouthfeel and a full enough body coupled with a bold enough chocolatey coffee flavor (not to mention hoppy) to be rated as a formidable stout in my book.

Bottle. Smells sweet like dark fruit, chocolate, and brittle candy- but with an off-something. Dark brown with foamy light brown head and decent lacing. Nice dry flavor, plus a hint of liqueur like flavor. Not too heavy, dry finish.
