Deep chocolate aromas and colors and flavors. Malty throughout, without being too heavy on the palate. This beer melts in your mouth -- with identifiably Belgian chocolate notes: nutty, slightly bitter, light coffee. Aromas are equally intense, with a sweet caramel addition on the nose.

Dark dark brown to black with a thick light brown head. Creamy. Cocoa powder? Dry light subtle sweetness, not a lot going on. Creamy full mouthfeel. Light body. Not bad, but not good. Cocoa power in particular sticks out. Not huge flavor. Maybe a slight Belgian twinge. A bit sweet. Not distinctive or really that good. Bitter roast finish.

750 ml split in Duvel glass. Black with lasting flat brown head and lace. Chocolate, port, and earthy aroma with hint of must. Dark chocolate, port flavor with very slight raisin fruitiness and bittersweet finish. Surprisingly dry fast finish. Medium body medium carbonation. Very nice but less complex and indulgent than expected.

750 ml bottle from a trade with ughsmash. i was looking forward to this one ever since trading for it. pours dark brown with red edges and a medium tan head. aromas are of coffee and tin with a tiny bit of dark chocolate. flavours are a mess. thin chocolate flavours give way to a big tinny finish. very thin watery mouthfeel. hard to choke down the 750ml bottle. i dont know what went wrong but this was not a chocolate indulgence it was more like tin water dissaster.2.2//////////////////////////my second bottle of this was better but still not worth of its name. the second bottle would score 3.4

Brown black with fluffy tan head. Malty brown aroma with a generically stouty and semi-bitter nutty taste. Cocoa seems a bit of an afterthought, and is rendered too subtle by the very vi-gorose carbonation.

750 poured into a snifter had a huge frothy brown head that stayed through the whole tasting, dark chocolate black in color with such a nice look in the glass. aroma of chocolate milk, chocolate roasted malt, light alcohol, cocoa, and hazelnut. mouth feel is so velvet smooth, absolutely no bitterness, silky cocoa chocolate, mild roasted malt, on the more dry side for a stout, but so amazingly smooth to drink, just the perfect balance of flavors. not an over the top brew but so tasty in it’s simplicity. definitely fits the profile for a foreign stout, has the taste i have come to expect from ommegang, and had much more to offer in flavor as it warmed up a bit in the glass. way to go on this one, truly an indulgence as the label states!
