3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 750ml bottle into a stemmed glass.
The color is a dark black with a finger of tan head and some nice lacing left on the glass.
The smell is dark malts here, there, and everywhere. The nose does open up once your past the dominant malty aroma and lets out some of that cocoa aroma I had been looking for. A touch of candy sugar sweetens the nose up a bit and gets me motivated to take the first taste.
The taste has a nice roast malt flavor that has a hint of dark chocolate and a slight coffee bean flavor. There is a Belgian yeast character that is reminiscent of double that is mixed with a stout.
The feel of this beer is medium bodied but behaves like a bigger beer. It will not hurt you but it try’s to scare you that it might be too much handle. It does have a reasonable drink-ability but does tend to challenge you at times. Overall, a great flavorful beer with great character.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a pint glass and poured a dark, "chocolate-like" brown color with a slightly lighter head. This is a tasty beer. Has a non sweet chocolaty flavor with the herbal hop flavor coming in after to round out the flavor. A really good stout with a lot of drinkability.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled 8/24/12. Poured dark with a thick foamy lacing with a cocoa aroma. Fizzy feel from the Belgium yeast pretty well balanced with a lightly chocolatey sweet finish. Not too sweet and very easy going with little alcohol burn. Great seasonal selection I had to try just finally got to it 2 1/2yrs later. Overall a must try pretty damn good sampling.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
"just tried a year old 10th anniversary release. I’d like to compare with the 08 release, but i can’t find it. Not quite "indulgant", but came close by the end. It started off pretty underwhelming, but got better as it climbed higher than 55 degrees...so almost every aspect is graded on a scale. aroma 7-9 mouthfeel 7-9, flavor 7-8, overall 8 2012-earns the decadent name a little more."

on tap at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring, MD.
Opaque, near black with a tan head and very good lacing.
Aroma of cola, roasted coffee, mild cocoa, yeast dates and other dark fruit.
Taste of plums, black cherries, chocolate, roasted coffee, dates, Belgian yeasts and roasted malt.
Medium body and medium carbonation.
A nice imperial stout with an interesting complex of dark fruit and mild roastiness coupled with coffee and a surprisingly subtle chocolate.
