If you’ve had a lot of Ommegang beers, you’ve basically had this beer, since it tastes exactly like their house yeast with slight hints of fruitiness. But it’s mostly all yeast flavor, which is fine because the Ommegang yeast is quite good for these light sipper summer beers.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Head is initially large, frothy, rocky, white, fully lasting.
Body is hazy medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (herbs), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of lemon zest, pepper, gum, sulfur, hay.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Shockingly good, or at least this sample is. Very peppery, zesty, herbal, saison-ish nose with great flavor balance...when I first smelled it I was immediately reminded of Saison Dupont, believe it or not. Very dry/crisp finish with nice yeasty tartness, and a fluffy mouthfeel. And look at that head! Geez...enormous meringue thing that lasts til the very last traces of liquid remain in the glass. Best new (to me) beer from Ommegang since that first batch of Hop House rolled into Colorado a couple years ago (which was also a 4.1 for me, but subsequent batches didn’t measure up). To reference the theme of the beer, they certainly knocked this one out of the park. Gonna have to give this the 4-pack test for sure.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Just like the description. Has the nice characteristic smell and flavor of a Belgian brew. Every molecule passes through the characteristic Belgian yeast imparting a sour but yummy flavor that groes on you! This is really good. But not terribly strong. Good summer beer for those who appreciate the yeasty nature of Belgian beers or stronger German weizen grogs.

draft that poured a hzy yellow color with a white head. had a bit of a banana aroma and sweet malts with some floral tones. the flavor was more of the same but I get some crispness in the flavor and fruit notes. pretty decent as to how smooth and flavorful it was.

Cooperstown calls itself a Blonde Ale, but seems like the hybridization of a Saison, Blonde, and Belgian Ale. Its looks are like a Saison with a golden body and a long-lasting head. Aroma presents fruity yeast esters and bread malt - much like a Belgian White and Belgian Ale. Taste offers banana, clean hops, fresh bread, pomaceous fruit, and mildly earthy yeast. Blonde Ale or not, Cooperstown Ale offers a lot more flavor and complexity than traditionally lighter summer beers. It’s a beautiful and refreshing Belgian-style ale.
