I’ll buy it again.

Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy dark brown color with orange highlights. The head was thick and light tan with good retention and lacing. Alluring mix of aromas that included the likes of peat smoke, tobacco, dark fruits, roasty malt, and hints of leather and brown sugar. Medium bodied and delicately sweet with carbonation on the bubbly end of the spectrum. Black tea, smoke, and tobacco flavors with a dash of salt.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/2/2010. Pours lightly hazy dark brick red color with a nice 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big molasses, raisin, toffee, toast, caramel, chocolate, pepper, earth, clove, floral, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity. Taste of raisin, pear, molasses, toffee, toast, chocolate, biscuit, caramel, nuttiness, pepper, earth, floral, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of raisin, molasses, toffee, toast, chocolate, nuttiness, pepper, and earth on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity and balance of flavors that are nicely robust; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent scotch ale with a Belgian twist. Very well balanced, robust, and complex; very smooth to sip on. Really enjoyed this one. Glad I was finally able to try it.

smell is of roasted malt, caramel, and spice.
taste is a little sour, toffee, and spice. ends a little bitter.

Excellent brew, perfect for its style. Mouthfeel is spot on where it should be. Taste is sweet, dark and malty. Great beer.

Pours an opaque brown with a huge tan head...nice lacing and retention. Aroma has light malty sweetness and a touch of raisin and molasses. Flavor follows suit and just a touch of the smokiness comes through. Mouthfeel is medium/full and very silky with a dry malty/slightly smoky finish. Nice!

Tap at the Gingerman. The smell is roast, caramel, dried fruits, toffee, and alcohol. The look is dark, brown in color, with a tannish head. The taste is fruits, caramel, toffee, and alcohol. Pretty good.

Bottle from glen cove beer distributors. Aged for about a year. Lots of raisin, caramel, kind of thin on the palate. Decent American made scotch ale.

Pours a chestnut brown color with a tall creamy off-white head. Aroma of raisin, toffee,plum,and caramel. Flavor of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel sweetness. Really nice beer!

Bottle pours brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is brown sugar and caramel malts. Flavor is green raisins, plums, caramel and toasted malts, big burnt sugar finish. Nice stuff.
