Tap at Busters. Slightly hazy yellow pour with a clingy pure white head. Nose is yeast and citrus. Soft and delicate. Smooth palate with just a touch of hop edge. Wonderful Belgian ale.

Bouteille 750ml.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 8/30/2012. Pours hazy and cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, clove, pepper, bread, wheat, floral, herbal, grass, light banana, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy ester notes with light-moderate malt. Taste of big lemon, pear, apple, clove, pepper, floral, grass, bread, wheat, light banana, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of lemon, light fruits, clove, pepper, wheat, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with moderate malt; with a great fruity/spicy ester balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a slightly slick and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Belgian strong pale ale! Great balance and complexity of flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow! This beer was the surprise of the year so far! Outstanding! Aroma was big and juicy. Yeast, Juicy Fruit bubblegum and and lemon. Pour was a nice light gold with a thin white film for a head. Taste was delicious and refreshing. Heavy yeast bite coupled with a very tart (near sour) flavor. Earth, barnyard floor and light fruits all mix together for a delicious flavor. As it warmed, lemon and hay came out. Almost saison-like. Mild carbonation for the style, which was kind of disappointing but still an awesome beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013-04-19. Hazy golden yellow body with a modest white head. 3++ Sort of musty grassy lemony aroma. Flavour is similar, dry, lightly alcoholic throughout, grassy, floral, vaguely funky. Average plus palate. Finishes quite dry and alcoholic. Decent but doesn’t really make me want a second bottle. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Corked bottle and served in Duvel snifter: Pours a deep clean golden hue with a lasting fizzy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of banana, clove, grains of paradise, biscuit, honey and caramel with grassy and slightly spicy hops. There is a bit of plastic-ish vapour but nothing off putting. The taste is initially quite Belgian with fruity and grainy overtones and a touch of herbal notes. Earthy and woody dry before the spicy finish. Seems more boozy that the ABV lets on, I would have guessed 10+ for this. I did expected more farmhouse notes as well. The mouth feel is sharp and aggressive, a tad minerally and band-aid too. Overall it is okay but I honestly am a tad disappointed considering how much I love Duvel and like Ommegang. Reminds me how I was disappointed in the Brasserie d’Achouffe and Ommegang collaboration beer as well.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Picked this up about 4 months ago in Vermont.
A - Nice gold clarity, although a few specs of yeast or hops still floating around
S - Smells like granny smith apples, grape skins and juicy juice box juice.
T - Sweet, hint of funkiness and some barnyard with a very almost ashtray like finish. Very moldy / muddy, could be confused with earthy but nope. Great start just like Duvel. Finish is not forgettable in a bad way.
M - Nice carbonation
O - It’s a shame this isn’t very good. Not a drain pour but close.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
If I am going to drink a beer above eight percent, I expect more flavor. Pours light gold, thin, and with a tiny amount of head. The flavor seemed synthetic. Yes, that description is not very qualitative, but synthetic was the term that came to mind. Not my thing. Bottle - Leon’s Full Service - Decatur, GA
