Duvel Rustica Golden Ale is our long-anticipated collaboration with Duvel. Itís our first Belgian-style Golden Ale, a elegant ale noted for using simple ingredients to create complex flavors and aromas. We worked closely with Duvel on the recipe and processes, yet added our own signature notes. This Duvel collaboration created a fine ale, one with all the depth and breadth of Duvelís classic Belgian Golden Ale, along with rustic notes, including fruity esters from our yeast. In keeping with our rustic farmstead roots, Rustica pours a golden hue, the aroma and flavor mixes maltiness and citrus from hops while the yeast produces notable fruitiness. The body is lean and rounded, while the finish offers dry warmth & firm hop bitterness.

750mL bottle, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma of cereal malts, crackers, some hoppy bite and Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out rustic farmhouse notes, a touch of banana, Belgian yeast and a hoppy bite. Really well-balanced, finishing on notes of cracker and a hoppy bite. Highly drinkable and thirst-quenching. I prefer this to regular Duvel. Excellent stuff.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, bubbly golden yellow. Somewhat opaque, I guess. Smells strongly of lemon, orange peel, pepper, spices. Good beer, easy to drink and you donít taste the alcohol in it until youíre finished with it.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Oak Tree, 12/4/12

Aroma: The nose has Belgian yeast, some citrus hops, other fruity notes, grains, funk, and spice
Appearance: It pours a heavy cloudy golden color with a small, bubbly white head and spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is similar to the nose, with lots of yeasty flavors, a good amount of spice, plenty of fruit, a little bit of funk, a light-medium bitterness, and something just a bit too herbal to the finish
Palate: The body is medium, has an average carb, and a fairly dry, slightly "off" feel to the finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one was really solid, particularly in the nose. The taste is still nice, but not quite as interesting as the nose, and it falls off just a touch in quality in the end palate. Still though, a very solid, well-made beer, from a collaboration that makes a ton of sense.
