COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Duvel Rustica Golden Ale is our long-anticipated collaboration with Duvel. It’s our first Belgian-style Golden Ale, a elegant ale noted for using simple ingredients to create complex flavors and aromas. We worked closely with Duvel on the recipe and processes, yet added our own signature notes. This Duvel collaboration created a fine ale, one with all the depth and breadth of Duvel’s classic Belgian Golden Ale, along with rustic notes, including fruity esters from our yeast. In keeping with our rustic farmstead roots, Rustica pours a golden hue, the aroma and flavor mixes maltiness and citrus from hops while the yeast produces notable fruitiness. The body is lean and rounded, while the finish offers dry warmth & firm hop bitterness.

Draft @ 800° Three Fires. Sweet bready malt, Belgian yeast, and floral hops aroma. Clear gold with a small white head. Sweet fruity banana, musty, light spice flavor, and honey and alcohol flavor as it warmed. Medium body, soft carbonation

Poured as a small taster from a bottle. The beer is slightly darker than classic Duvel and the spiciness in the aroma and on the palate aren’t as apparent with the Ommegang yeast used to do bottle conditioning. While quite good, I slightly prefer classic Duvel.

750ml bottle 10/12/13 (Hy-Vee Cedar Rapids)-42° in Trappist Glass-Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, grass, grains, and hops. Taste of the same with more hops and it finishes very dry. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and quite tasty. Great brew.

Pour on tap at Hops and Pie, light orange pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of orange, lemon, some clove, banana in there from the yeast, slight biscuit, grass, some grainy notes as well. Taste is a mix of white fruit, banana, slight bubblegum into clove, spice, and grassy notes, slight vanilla, honey, and bready notes, finishing fairly sweet. Pretty good.

Bottle I took to Dadtoberfest. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Soft grain, a touch of yeast, sweet grain and toast. Musk, medium bodied, toast, grain, a good bit of musk. A touch of earthy hops. Soft bitterness into the finish, a touch of musk, grain, toast. Tasty enough, but for the price I’d rather have three times as much Duvel.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; light gold with white head. Smells spicy and doughy with sweet notes. Tastes like it smells with a hint of mild cherry menthol. Average on the palate. Not bad.

Draft. Clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of sweet honey, earthy yeast and a light spicy scent. Flavor is sugary malt, peppery spicy with lightly tart yeast and no alcohol presence. Medium body with active carbonation. Very nice beer, the sweetness is balanced out nicely with the yeast character and the alcohol is very well hidden.

This one poured a cloudy lighter yellow color with a white head. Almost looked like a wit. Aroma was lots of spices, corander and chamomille, yeast and lemons. Flavor was much the same, almost lemon limey, with strong yeast notes and light rustic taste. Decent.
