Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale. Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

Bottle- Pour a hazy yellow. With a thick white head. You can smell and taste the floral hops. Subtle crisp flavors, very light on the hops. Fruity and earthy feel. Sweetness from the fruit and spicy earth hints. Very nice summer ale!

Bottle. Moderate to heavy grain and hay for the malt, moderate perfume, herbs and lemon for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with just ripe pears, and hints of honey, ginger and Japanese incense. Head is large, frothy, white with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is sparkling clear but hazy on the last pour, golden. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet, acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a fizzy carbonation. Great fruity aromas and a crisp drink-ability from this Belgian Ale.

Ommegang Fleur de Houblon has a thin, spongy, off-white head, a murky, yellow-orange, extremely bubbly appearance, and some lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is very sweet, full, yeasty, and citrusy. The taste has the lemon or cumquats, white bread, pronounced hop bitterness, light fruit, yeast, candi sugar, and grain husk. Mouthfeel is heading up towards medium and is carbonated to the hilt, and Ommegang Fleur de Houblon finishes mostly dry, pretty easy drinking, and rich. Overall, another hit from Ommegang. Get some! Pours a cloudy straw-yellow. Good off-white head--small, but plenty of blanket lace. Lots of lasting power. As always, there’s a ton of Belgian yeast to the smell. Behind that is some pale malt, but it’s subtle. More bitter than most of Ommegang’s offerings. Again, there’s a harsh yeast bite geometry hop in the background, but it’s not prominent. The aftertaste is better on the hop bitterness, but this still the tale of a strong Belgian yeast flavor.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. A really big foamed one, and the beer itself is really cloudy, golden yellow in color. It smells of blind Belgian yeast, some green apples, a little spicy touch, some alcohol, apple zest and a little bit of silo fart. Smells nice. Tastes like a proper Belgian. Some yeasty tones and a half sharp alcohol sting. It has a just below average carbonation level and a light oily mouthfeel. The green apple zest sticks in the taste as well, and it’s what I would call as light mouthdrying. Somewhat watery finish. 13.06.2013

12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s. Golden orange and cloudy with a white head and visible sediment. Fresh floral hop aroma with citrus fruit, earthy yeast, and light spice. Similar flavor with a medium body, crisp feel and a refreshing finish.

Tap - not much head, pale straw color, light bodied, mild floral hop aroma and flavor with mild sweet malt backbone - not bad but expected a little more ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, flowers, frutiness, and a bit of spice. Taste is sweet, but sufficiently hoppy. Aftertaste of yeast and hops linger on into the aftertaste. This is a really well done Belgian ale. It was great after a long run.

Murky apricot with a very large quickly dissipating white crown. Aroma is grainy and yeasty with spicy, coriander and grassy hops. Taste of coriander, pepper, yeast and sweet malt.
