COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale. Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

grassy, flowery and citrus smells coming off of this sucker. Ranking it highly for the aroma. Not bitter at all, though little malt shows through. good hop notes. Ironically, the yeast is the main event. Another good one from Ommegang.

Enjoyed from bottle at World of Beer in Evanston, IL prior to seeing World War Z. Also nursing a hiccup fit, hoping this clears it. Appearance is a very cloudy bright gold with a rich white head. Aroma of floral hops, hay, grassy, smells summer like. Taste is light, notes of clove, lemony, rather carbonated which will not help these hiccups, light dry finish. Overall I like it, good summer ale with a slight Belgian twist. It seems like this could be their new flagship brew.

Pours bright yellow into a shaker. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Yeast and pepper aromas. Sweet with caramel and yeast upfront turning to spicy hops in the lasting finish.

Deep golden straw color and big fluffy white 3 finger thick head. Very effervescent. Aroma is wheat, mild yeast, but very recognizable as the Ommegang strain. Also picking up mild citrus fruits. Taste is very typical of Ommegang lighter color brews, nothing really stands out other than a touch of lemon zest and a bit of pepper. Palate is light and bubbly. I’m a huge fan of ommegang but was not too impressed by this one. I was hoping for more lemon and hop flavors to shine through.

Bottle. pours deep, bright, orange layered straw yellow with steady meringue white head. Looks lovely. Nose is green, yeasty, did not know these were Bravo hops but they are very particular and green. Tastes a lot like some of the hoppy chouffe and Urthel beers. Always a bit too yeasty and estery for me, but nice.

Bought a bottle of this for a summer picnic along with a selection of Ipas, and this was the most pleasant summer drink of the bunch. Wonderful body and mouthfeel. Great!

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate fruit, bubblegum, floral notes, and a hint of mint. It pours a hazy (bordering on cloudy) golden-orange with a large white head that leaves behind a lot of soapy lacing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus, honey, Belgian yeast, and faint bubblegum. The finish has light-moderate floral notes, spice, a hint of apple, and even less mint. It’s medium bodied with lively carbonation, but the carbonation never becomes prickly.

$2.99 for a 12oz bottle @ Olive Tree Market a couple-ish months ago. Clear medium gold with a two finger off-white head, lasting. Left a decent amount of beer in the bottle (at first) due to the chunky yeast floating around once disturbed. Lots of floral hops in the nose, followed by some fruity pear, light dry cracker malt and white pepper. Flavor adds a bit of herbal hops, though it’s still plenty floral.Dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 3. Low on sweetness. Moderate to high carbonation with a medium body. Pretty tasty.

Draft at Jerry’s. Hazy yellow with good, creamy, white head, decent legs /Fresh, bright, fruity nose of citrus & tropical fruit, straw, spice / Medium body, a touch thin, fruity and lightly sweet, turning nicely bitter, with overall fine balance / Elegant flavors of lemon, pear, banana, straw, coriander, clove / Small deduction for a little water to the body, but all in all an excellent summer brew.
